Sev, before you start arguing with people, please know what they're talking about. If you haven't played Shin Megami Tensei, you have no clue what you're arguing about. And its clear you haven't played it.

This isn't just Pokemon Snap with TM/HMs.

This system more closely resembles SMT monster breeding as you can really make these things learn just about anything with the right amount of experimenting. You probably also have to factor in the monster correlation elements, I don't expect this system to deviate too far from its basis in FFXI.

Though, it does beg the question of what we classify behemoth as. I'd say they were beasts, but somewho I don't think you can get a Tree Sapling to intimidate them. Also, Aerns would be considered beastmen, I'd think, so I doubt we could use them, but it appears we could teach Aern abilities. Maybe Xomits or something.

I'm gonna have to go snap pots in the garden, Optic Induration would be nice.

God you are always my favorite bbq. You always talk about all these things I said. I haven't played Shin Megami Tensei, that would probably be the reason I didn't use it as an example and why I used pokemon, right? You said it pokemon was a family friendly version, well FFXI isn't really hard core non family friendly itself not counting the players.

Pokemon snap -> Take pictures to collect pokemon. Right it has been awhile since I have played that lol64.

Tm/Hm -> Items you collect to modify the moveset of your pokemon.

Oh sorry its pokemon snap w/ tm and hm, in an online battle arena.

Behemoth is in fact a Beast (same group as Tigers, bunnies, Cerberus etc). From the .dats for the Pit (POLUtils->Data->Dialog->West Aht Urghan->The Colosseum (There is no choice for Pit)) Beastmen, Luminions, Luminians and Empty cannot be "captured". The list of mob classes that you can choose from are:

Dialog Table Entry 00404 Chose a Family:
                ≺Selection Dialog≻Random.
                Aquan.
                Bird.
                Plantoid.
                Vermin.
Beast. (Behe and Cerb are listed)
                Amorph.
Arcana. (Khimeria is listed there (though spelled with a C)
Lizard. (Adamentoise is listed under this, new mob Armored Lizard as well)
                Undead. (Vampyre is listed here)
Dragon. (Dragon, Wyvern, Fairy Wyvern, Shadow Dragon, Hydra)
                Demon. (Dvergr is listed here)
                Archaic. (Salvage Mobs)
                Elemental.≺Prompt≻

You really should take a look at it. If they implement everything that is in there, you'll be able to change your mobs job class, teach them Job Abilities and Merit abilites, the Spells Break, Death Meteor plus the other Spells that players don't have access too (as well as the ones we do). EnTerror, EnAspir, EnVirus etc etc Even teaching them the special mob WS limited to NMs (though probably only works with certain mobs). Its very extensive and interesting to say the least.

Behemoth have always been Beasts. And just because you have a giant doesn't mean it will be the strongest. My guess is that mob lvl and the Beast Chart will be the most important factors of a fight. Meaning that yes, a Behemoth can and will get it's ass handed to it by Saplings.

Just another step in the direction of proving my theory that Crabs will conquer all.
