If anything is LOL, it's the fools that spent hundreds of thousands of gil on DEX rings.
Of course, everyone is gonna see this nerf, and just assume that the update was for naught, and that 2h got everything taken away from them, and the game will be right back where it was last week. Nothing changed, and NIN/MNK/WAR stupidly and retardedly overpowered again.
What was the point of that update then, if that's the case? Way to go, SE, way to go.
So SE can never actually make something balanced, because, in order to overcome the stigma of the past, 2H has to be visibly overpowered?

As far as player perception is concerned, yeah, they apparently do, because we've all seen many examples of how SE had good intent with various updates before, but the players simply said "Meh, it wasn't anything fantastic, so it's pointless. Back to MNK/NIN/WAR/Whatever-the-Golden-Job-is-atm."
It took a change of this magnitude to get any kind of outstanding response from the players in general, good or bad. Everything before hand has been lackluster, and powered by just a small interest group (usually the group effected the most by the change). This change has gotten just about everyone involved, and has actually done more to change player perspective by itself than all the other changes combined.
Long story short, the answer is: Yes, SE has to do exactly that.
No matter what they do, someone will always be like this:
THEY NERFED MY JOOOOOOOOB!!!!
After whatever adjustments, princess BRDs will still be saying that even though they're still getting PTs.
Really though, people seem to like to read the word "nerf" when someone just makes a criticism about how things are or an adjustment is made.
People want to see complaints as negativity. This is a fallacy. That's like thinking anger is "bad" or sinful. Its OK to be angry, its all right to complain. Both can be constructive forces and not just destructive ones.
I just loved how my RNG post , being a DRG excited about the update, was twisted into me being some mean ol' DRG hating RNG. I'm excited at the chance to level DRG again under a more favorable perception and two handers got thier update, however, that update shouldn't be at the expense of existing jobs. It should not be a the expense of a high-investment job or any job for that matter.
COR was not adjusted at the expense of BRD. There's too damn few CORs and BRDs for that to ever even be a concern. This update has not brought people to PUP, COR or BST in droves as people feared because they just require a higher level of dedication than most other jobs do.

I guess we get to the crux of our disagreement. One side wants balance. The other side wants change.
Balance won't necessarily achieve change. After all, if all jobs were balanced, the player base could still choose to play as MNK/NIN/WAR and nothing else, simply out of preference.
Change won't necessarily achieve balance. This update has clearly demonstrated that.
