If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?

As hard as it may be, don't take this game or your characters too seriously. I promise you - the guys that really own your account don't.
Good god it's just one mood swing after another isn't it.
First its poor 2h'ders, then there's news that they're getting a boost and everyones happy. Then the fix comes in but it was over the top and other DD's start crying it's not fair. it's announced its a known problem that will be fixed and everyone starts crying nerf.
DRKs aren't emo anymore!!
Nothing pleases me more than a smiling DRK.
Who gets their happiness taken away.
You thought they ate away at their own souls before? Ha..
This sentiment was probably not serious, but I'm actually a bit annoyed because DRK as a job isn't really that emo anymore, in a relative sense. I think that as much as core flavor went into establishing the suffering and self-destruction DRK undergoes in pursuit of power, not only has the job proved a tad underwhelming in terms of that actual power, but past the whole Shadow Lord plot, there's really no significance to DRK, it's just another DD. Then comes ToAU, and Blue Mage. You think selling your soul for power is badass? BLU eats souls for power, become immortal, and inevitably go mad and have to be killed off by their peers. The job also has incredible story significance given the role the Immortals play in Aht Urhgan.
So as a RPer who poured a lot of effort into trying to establish the character and backstory of a DRK, worked on trying to set up a suitably tragic set of circumstances for her to be caught up in, I have to say I felt rather dramatically undercut on the sudden introduction of BLU. (It doesn't help that two other members of our RPLS immediately became BLUs ICly...)
Sorry for the OT rant, just been bugging me for a while. Something to actually reaffirm the story significance of core jobs a bit further would be nice, though.
If anything is LOL, it's the fools that spent hundreds of thousands of gil on DEX rings.
Of course, everyone is gonna see this nerf, and just assume that the update was for naught, and that 2h got everything taken away from them, and the game will be right back where it was last week. Nothing changed, and NIN/MNK/WAR stupidly and retardedly overpowered again.
What was the point of that update then, if that's the case? Way to go, SE, way to go.
What nerf?
SE hasn't changed anything yet. All they said was that damage isn't 'correcting' properly. That could mean almost anything. However, what it doesn't mean is a change to the STR/Atk - DEX/Acc change as it currently stands. They said in the update notes initially that they intended it to be that way. Though, as a DRG buying a Thunder Ring seems a stretch anyway since a) STR and attack are typically more useful and b) since VIT helps jump I don't like losing any, though I suppose -2 isn't much.
People need to back up off the ledge a little bit and go outside or something.
That's because of not what's actually happening, but it's all perception. The players in this game take everything to an extreme, regardless of how minor the change is (zOMG MY DMG IS CAPPED ON ERON BUNNIES!!!1!!111!! MNK GOTZ NERFED!!11!!1!11!), or how overwhelming it actually is (WTF DRG doing 1-3k on Penta? Has Hell frozen over?). Some people just can't handle change.
oh btw, this nerf is brought to you by endgame! All the people who were like "What will you do when they "nerf" your tp burn jobs", We exploited the 2h adjustment into a nerf lol >.>
To be quite honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the "correction" that needs to take place is just the level correction against HNMs. I'll laugh my ass off if they keep STR and DEX on a 1=1 basis afterwards.
Ive read on some speculation on other forums that the fixes will concern the way crits are handeled. So perhaps a change in the pdif again, this way crits will mean something again. Hard to say though, as the US POL site is pretty vague on reasoning and the fixes needed. Nothing seems to point in the direction of a dex=acc nerf for 2hnd I dont think
actually they could leave the str and damage the same and just reduce the dex to 1.5=1 which would make crits worth something. the problem with the ws is we are almost always hitting the max.

That too could be it. Essentially, 2h had their ability to perform crits in the first place taken away, but the fact that we've been doing so much dmg, I barely noticed my capped crit merits going off. Of course, I never worried all that much anyways, I was too happy being able to do damage on a 2h WS at a scale that reminded me and others that I was indeed wielding a two-handed weapon.
WTF could Rampage outperform Penta Thrust? That was so fucking gay. At least SE fixed that.
