These updates look amazing for things such as Hnms, Jailers, Gods, etc. Not to mention Sam has become even more lethal in endgame (omgz nerf! lol jking). The merit issue is more about damage/mp spent on you, 2h can do great damage trust me from my burning as drg I can put up great numbers but still have a bigger mp sink, worse for darks. The help is not what mhurron was talking about he meant about 2h getting burn pt invites or invites over war/nin (atleast i hope he did >.> )
For fast killing it may depend on how the grips work. I mean the one they are showing us is abit like haste(lowers the delay for more swings) but I'm sure there are more fun things which may make weapons hit more or gain more TP. It's a bit vague on that point and we probably won't know what every grip does unill they come out in the update....

Even though TP-burn parties will still rule this day, it at least gives some breath of fresh air for our 2-Handed friends. ^^

DRG, DRK and SAM always did good to great and if they knew what they were doing, fantastic damage. WAR could always do wonderful things with G.Axe. So why do they all take a back seat to WAR/NIN with 2x Axe's?

Utsusemi and 2 weapons must be better then one right?

SE hasn't slapped some sense into the majority of players so what people think isn't going to change. So merits will continue to be dual wield or GTFO. SAM, DRK, and DRG and probably sometimes WAR all already used 2h weapons elsewhere so guess what, that isn't going to change either.

So again, I doubt anything will change.

These parties already exist taskmage, dunno if people here don't know about the qutrub (sp?) camps. Weak to sc+ mb style of play for an easy 14k+ hr party. So a little off pace from tp burn, but still good solid exp/merits. As for grip-burn v tp-burn or a combo of the two, you now have the 2 subs to chose from instead of three, 1 handers with /nin for dual wield and shadows, 2h with /sam for hasso and third eye.

No matter the outcome, its nice to see:
          1) S-E boosting jobs, rather then nerfing the shit out of them.
          2) Definite boost with the just the 3% delay reduction.

I doubt the will make a multi-hit grip, and if they do they will be hard to get, unless they update ridill to be gotten alot easier. Notice how the majority of 2h that have multi-hits are low damage due to the fact of the immense dps/ws damage that could be used. As for the Store tp grip, that could be very useful, delay seems the best bet tho because that was the issue that 2h were faster (also why s-e would show delay reduction), from confirmed grip v normal war weapon:

          You're normal War/Nin man+joy combo
          276 (7.3%tp) + 224 (6%tp) Normal delay of 500 (without sub)
13.3 tp (no double attack) ~ 26.6 (full attack)
15% from dw II 5% suppa = 400 base delay

          Your Drg/sam (mezraq)
          492 (13.3%)
13.3% tp normal, 26.6 (double attack w/ brutal), 39.9 (triple attack w/ homam)**
5% hasso and using 3% from the grip shown = 452.64 base delay.

          Your War/Sam (byakko's axe)
          504 (13.7%)
13.7 normal tp, 27.4 (double attack)**
          5% Hasso and using 3% grip= 463.68 base delay

As just the grip does help alot, it still is slower then dual wielding, tho if the grip haste doesn't effect tp gain like dual wield does, it will be even a greater upgrade.

** I didn't use store tp factors on tp gain, and no haste gear equiped to any of the melee.

Yes usually against gods and higher def mobs is where gaxe war, drk, sam shine (drg depending on the drg).

Yup look ahead, tho sam and dark can fit into tp burns very well.

With the changing how damage is done to high def mobs they will do even better there lol.

            Re: Battle system adjustment 8/14/07

I hope at least a few of these grips, like simple ones, will be easy to obtain from a merchant or something. It would be nice not to have run around Vana'diel just to get 1 to try out.

Kriteena I'm sorry but you are heading towards being gimped ; ;. No Gripz GTFO! lol. Maybe S-E will ninja our inventory to 100.

Well I'm not exactly going to run out and start 2hing now.

What they're saying is that compared to the 1h counterparts, 2h doesn't COMPLETELY suck anymore.

Not just Spools of thread, HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE spools of thread.

As Krist said, there goes my inventory space. I really hope its just "Enhances Bonuses of Staff" but yeah, this game is a plague on inventory space.

I do wonder what "High level" and "High Defense" actually mean though. If high level means T+, then it could be very nice (if High Def, means cons High Def, well then i dunno, I don't have a melee job leveled to answer that for terms of Merit PTs). Best not to get hopes up though. While this isn't the CoP Dev team, it still is S-E.

If this a nice boost, I will level WAR solely to use Great Axe (then slowly fund a Relic G Axe for myself, since Metatron Torment is the only bad ass sounding Relic WS)
