Re: Mission Additions and Various Adjustments (08/02/2007)

I like the adjustments to the LB quest. I love helping people with the quest, and answer the shouts anytime I can. But between king camps, dynamis, limbus, einherjar, salvage, assaults and whatever else the LS decides to do I can't always stay the whole time required to get it done.

    LSs are a great thing, but the socials I had joined while leveling didn't have any 75s. And as a 75 I'm leary of joining some socials in that I'll get bogged down with request to go do this or that for them. I got help from time to time doing quest, but I never tried to bug them too much. Usually I'd just ask "Where's Huxzoi?" or "What's Dynamis" or what's a "Meripo party". And my favorite newb question I asked was "What's a bard?", up until that time I had never partied with a bard, and had no idea that it was a job quest. >.>;

I'm not neccesarily for the one hour cap on Besieged, that means I'll have to catch at least two more before I can finish capping divine magic, but at least it gives me a time frame to schedule things.

Over all, I like the changes.

Yeah, even getting my Dynamis/Limbus ls to do Einherjar is a chore, most people are afraid to try it due to them going in and wiping in under a minute on their first try.

The forthcoming version update brings us to the climax of the Aht Urhgan missions, while introducing several groundbreaking adjustments to Einherjar, the Chocobo Hot and Cold game, Besieged, and more!
        For details, click here.

        Besieged
To oppose the overwhelming power of the level 8 beastmen forces, Al Zahbi's five Serpent Generals have spent the previous months honing their skills. In addition, the Empire will be putting into effect a decree which allows additional distribution of temporary items after a certain number of invaders have been defeated. Finally, if the beastmen forces are not defeated by the Empire, or capture the Astral Candesence, they will automatically retreat one Earth hour after their arrival in Al Zahbi.
        Einherjar

        Limit Break Quests
With the current level of advancement of the majority of the player base, it has become increasingly difficult to find fellow adventurers who have yet to complete the limit break quests. In an effort to alleviate the woes of newer players, the limit break quests from level 50 to level 60 will have their difficulty reduced in the following manner:
        Level 50 "In Defiant Challenge"
Drop rates for the quest items will be improved.
Level 55 "Atop the Highest Mountains"
The relative strength of the quest monsters will be reduced so that a party of six level 51 characters will be able to defeat them.

The Besieged and Genkai adjustments make me happy ^^
With two more characters near that dreaded level 50 coming. it'll be good to hunt those items. The increased drop rate will do me good.

Besieged now means I can actually stay awake long enough to complete the JP standard time versions haha.

Personally, I am glad that SE is making it so that it is easier for new players to get to 75. I don't want FFXI to become WoW, but honestly... with the "Whats in it for me" mentality these days and the impossibility for people lower then 70 to really get anything done by themselves, it is nice to see that being softened up.

Thanks, it was annoying to do. My DivX wouldn't give me the screen capture with just print screen so I had to download a new program and then bring it into Photoshop and resize it. But I couldn't use it for every site because it was too big so I made like 5 different sizes of it...

            Anyway, sorry for the derail.

Re: Mission Additions and Various Adjustments (08/02/2007)

I'm more interested in finding out how SE is gonna wrap the TAU storyline up now. Will we see any of the war with The Eastern Empire, or will the three Middle Land nations declare war against Aht Urghan (outside of Jeuno's jurisdiction)? Perhaps Aht Urghan will try to get a preemptive strike off and hit the Middle Lands first? Would they even be capable of doing so, what with their eastern front under constant turmoil, and having to deal with constant domestic attacks?

And what of Naja? These last sets of missions started to show that there's way more to her than just her rampant greed and lack of scruples in her business dealings. She has more connections than she's letting on (even more than your average mercenary/business leader usually has), and she's showing more concern for our safety for some unusual reason (I still don't believe she actually cares for us as much as she does for the potential profit our presence represents). I'm thinking she's more involved with what's going on with Odin than she's showing us (or, at the very least, she's more involved with the inner workings of what goes on up at the palace than her station would normally allow). Naja has tipped her hand a lot more than she should have, and now I'm curious as to what cards she's *really* holding.

I beat COP, Zilart and Rank Missions just shortly before SE removed the exp penalties from them. So there.

I'm curious about how this is all going to end too. I can't wait to find out what we get for beating ToAU, and/or if there's going to be some horrendous new "Sky" area. (The Underworld Perhaps?)

So.. is besieged only going to last a maximum of an hour now? I kinda like the long besiegeds, they're fun to do with friends and great for skilling up in magic/weapons etc
