Extinct... Wow thats going to be... well... humm...

It ould potentially make the game unplayable while SE strive to save their beloved monsters. It could totally stalll people leveling in certain areas.

I'm just wondering if the DNA we collect for the Arena will still work if they go bye bye.

"I have to wonder..." you do, because most monsters in the game do have a limit on MP reserves.
A theory I had read at one time was that all monsters have a job type- even if it isn't precise. Crabs and beatles, iirc, were paladins. Which is why they have MP, even though they don't cast spells (well, some NMs do, but NMs are never the rule)

Don't jump to conclusions ... I'm sure every mob in the game isn't included in this.. infact if anything they may be talking about NEW monsters that can appear in our present time can go extinct depending on what we do in the past.

It may have nothing to do with the monsters we have now... so we can only wait and see.

Remember, not everyone will buy this expansion ... so they can't take monsters away from the players they won't or cannot buy it.. that wouldn't be fair.

This was my favorite part of the Alla interview

Pikko: It’s been mentioned in the past that the Puppetmaster job was intended to be another “solo” job, yet players are unable to utilize this tactic of fighting in its current state. Are the plans that you spoke of just now going to enhance it to the point where they can do this?

Ogawa-san: Yes, something very soon will happen to puppetmasters. The adjustment will come soon.
I just don't understand why Pikko said "players are unable to utilize this tactic of fighting in its current state".......

SAYS WHO!? .... I've had no problem.

PS: I'm so glad the SE team made this statement

Ogawa-san & Tanaka-san: Lots of fans want lots of different types of jobs and of course we’re always listening to that but rather than just putting in a job that maybe the players just want because they want it, we look more at how the new job is going to fit into the game and the battle system and what role that job will play and that’s more important, basically to maintain the balance of the game.

Probably means that it's not a very reasonable speed of leveling, compared to being in a party. Though I haven't talked to Pikko in a few weeks, and I don't have any idea how good PUP soloing is right now.

Okay, so it's 20 years ago? That's about the time the Crystal War ended, so we're only going to be experiencing the last few (months?) moments of the war.

Guess that means we won't see Tavnazia destroyed first hand, or what it was like before.

"Pikko: People on our forums seem to be asking for a new “tank” job, any chance you can tell us whether their wishes will be fulfilled?

Ogawa-san: Sorry, can’t say… but we realize people want a new frontline “tank” job."

yay, more arguments for Mystic Knight ^^ (it essentially was a tank in FFV, with comparable stats/gear to the Knight and having better offensive power)

I don't care how SE implements it, as long as I get my spellblade (and not lolenspells) I'll be happy ^^

I've been waiting for it ever since I'd heard of FFXI years and years ago

If you had read the 1up interview you would have already known this. They already stated that the areas are only the ones that were shipped with the base game.

I did, but it also means we won't be seeing the full extent of the war either.

Oh, and there were a lot of tasty tid bits left out from your blog that you didn't highlight, for instance:

Up until now the problem has been that the graphics parts of it have been published in DirectX 8 but now that we’ve been able to upgrade it to DirectX 9, which is what we are doing right now, this will become available for all of the cards. We hope to have it in by the release of Wings of the Goddess. We think it will be ready.
                  WOOT!

Pikko: A rumor was posted on our forums by someone who attended the Anime Expo that another Fan Fest will be coming up in November, can you tell us anything about that?

Kurosawa-san: Yes, it was a rumor then, but it’s official now. There will be another fan festival this year. Next week there will be a big announcement of when and where.
                  Double WOOT!

Pikko: Beastmasters have long awaited something new added to their job such as new abilities or jug pets. Can they expect any type of enhancement to their job in the near future?

Ogawa-san: Just changing the beastmaster would probably make a lot of other players upset as well, so what’s going to happen is when we add the new jobs we’re going to have to adjust a lot of the other jobs to keep things balanced and so probably at the time of the release of the expansion there will be another overhaul of the current jobs.

Ok, that graphics update surprises me though maybe it will solve the issues with my GeForce 8600, but the job changes don't impress me anymore. They call the tiniest things job balancing. RDM balancing = generally poor Group 2 merits.

(Please let this Fan Festival be close to me)

I want you to explain why Plague would be too weak. Btw, you haven't so far. You are talking about zerging down a monster with little care about TP gain. That's very different from many situations in the game.
Zerging a monster down with little care for its TP - possibly with the exception of a handful of mobs - is most situations in this game. In 1-75, in merits, in specific BCNMs and even HNMs. I think this is where most complaints for the game having no strategy or party mechanics are stemming from. And you only seem to care if its an issue under very specific conditions, like endgame instances or solo.

In a situation where TPing a mob is a bad thing or a situation where kiting until people recover is needed, then I can see plague being useful. I've already said this twice, it's disappointing to have to explain it. And this is just assuming the mob couldn't be slept or stunned. There are already many ways to stall a mob from TPing/TP spam in a situation that where tanks or an alliance has to recover.

We are talking about RDM, who can solo many things in the game without giving it a single ounce of TP. Now they can cast Bio II/III followed by Plague and not have to worry about that 10 TP.
If a RDM can solo things down without giving it TP, how is this a solo tool? You're not making any sense. Stoneskin, Utsusemi, Blind, Paralyze/Ice Spikes and Slow all inhibit mob TP gain as it is. Then you have Subtle Blow to reduce TP per hit you make on the mob, which is nice in solo, decent in duo and pretty much pointless when you've got more people than that on a mob.

Imagine Plague in Salvage, the new top tier end-game event, where usually only one or two melees are beating on a monster... would be very, very useful.
So your winning strategy is MNK, NIN and /NIN for Salvage? How many jobs does that cut out of participating, much less playing thier jobs effectively?

There are already so many damage null spells and abilities, I don't really see Subtle Blow taking things that much further, especially once you start lifting Pathos restrictions.

I need you to explain, because I'm tired of assuming that you know at least a little bit and then being surprised on how little you know. It makes having a counter argument frustrating.
Encountering the endgame-minded player who don't look beyond that particular scope of the game and assumes every conversation boils down to an endgame context is far more frustrating.

Subtle blow might be useful if mobs gained Tp like everyone else does but they don't. Playing Bst has made me realize this more then anything else. A normal mob will spam its Tp move when ever it feels like it. I seen 3 healing breezes back to back to back. I seen my pet killed by a screwdriver, an i was killed by 2 hits and another screwdriver. The list goes on an on with death from multiple TP moves way to close to each other.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

There are just a lot of mobs that spam things at will and unless you solo exclusively for quite a bit, you may never pick up on it. Solo a bomb-type mob and they'll sometimes Berzerk back to back to back... or not at all, then Self-Destruct after taking three hits. Dhamels and Pugs, as you've said also can be a bit spamish and Dhamels can spam Healing Breeze at times when you EXP on them in the 30s with PTs. They sometimes spam to full for not reason, not even getting 20% TP since the last HB.

BST mob pets also seem to recieve more TP for the damage they take, which is likely related to thier incredibly low HP and high attack. I've been soloing pet Rarhabs in Bibiki to learn Wild Carrot, even with Subtle Blow, Utsusemi and Cocoon, these mobs gain TP moves fast, not to mention they can kill you faster than the IT rabbits there if you're not careful.

Sadly, I think the Dear Friends concert in Atlanta a year ago is about as much mind as SE will ever pay to the East Coast.

In that case what is the point of Subtle blow if it does nothing to slow down a mob from using a WS very quickly? Is it to hinder Bst from spamming atks on it an grabbing a quick pet with 100tp. Or is it more as a way to lessen the Tp gain in Balista ?

This is where you are wrong. This might blow your mind, but people don't need alliances to kill many of the monsters in the game. Low-numbers is the way to go most of the time.

If a RDM can solo things down without giving it TP, how is this a solo tool? You're not making any sense. Plague isn't Subtle Blow. It doesn't take up the slot of better gear.

If a RDM can constantly rid a monster of it's TP, then he can use Dia/Bio without a problem, and the same with nukes. Three to four ticks can eradicate any TP gained from any damaging spell. This would do wonders for BLM + RDM duos or similar set ups.

Plenty of monsters that do have Auto-Regain don't always have it coming in chucks on 10 per tick. Any below 8 would really feel the effects of Plague(let alone 3 or under).

So your winning strategy is MNK, NIN and /NIN for Salvage? How many jobs does that cut out of participating, much less playing thier jobs effectively?
Crying to the wrong person. It still is extremely useful. Even if the tank was PLD or WAR. Or anything I can imagine. If you are doing Salvage with more than 8 people, you are probably not going to be as effective with someone doing it with less. *BRING MORE BODIES, ZEEERRG*

                                How hypocritical.

You are are telling me Plague doesn't work in TP burning/zerging/exp situations therefor it is useless... and I'm the one who has a narrow scope of the game?

You're level 75 now buddy, you can't use that excuse for every single debate you are wrong in! You didn't even know what Plague did at start of this and yet you feel you are more knowledgeable than someone who has obviously spent more time thinking about it than you.

What's scares me is that people who don't know better will actually agree with OMGwtfetc.
