    Why not just shut the servers down while you're at it? Balancing issues aside, more jobs = more variety = more fun. I'm sick of people making the same retarded statement;

Simply put, if you don't want more jobs, then don't play the new ones that come out.

. . . Says the guy who want's a job that's basically "Red Mage +" when S-E could just add to Red Mage.

I seem to remember the fall of Davoi being a catalyst for the unification of the Elvaan tribes, which eventually became the Kingdom of San'doria.

I'm left with the impression that the time period we're seeing is about 100 years before the events of FFXI. The nation of Windurst is already formed and starting to master magic, the Elvaan are banding together to form San'doria. Humes I suppose still have their own tribes, the pirate factions of the Bastore sea while the Galka are still mainly out in Kuztoz and the mithra are in their homeland.

It would also be interesting to see the beginnings of Jeuno, Maat in his younger years would be a cool central character, I think. Its clear he was more than just some fisherman in his younger days, he's too well-traveled for that.
That reply just made me even more excited to find out what this expansion will be about. It has the potential to be the best expansion FFXI has ever made... with or without new jobs... I'm excited.

Oh and about the E3 presentation .... I doubt it will just be a teaser ... especially if the expansion comes out THIS WINTER ... they have to give everyone at E3 some action if they wanna sell this thing in 2007. The only way this would be a teaser is if they decide to push it back to 2008 sometime.

nah. TAU didn't have fan fest until what, little over a month before release? Putting off hype that you can't keep up until there's not much time left is usually best. Say, GTA4 could start hyping three years early, and it would keep our interest. WTG hyping more than a few months ahead of time and we'd just forget aobut it.

Probably work out like this (totally stolen from BG):

            Show New trailer at E3
            Continue Bi-monthly updates
Show New Trailer at Tokyo Game Show+Q/A Panel about the end of ToAU and start of Wings
            Continue Bi-monthly updates still
Winter is here, Wings is Released

            Profit?!

If they do add new jobs I really hope they end up being a healing job and/or a tanking job. Older players going back thru the 20s and 30s to raise healing or tanking jobs would be immensely helpful to new players getting started. More damage dealer jobs competing for an already limited number of spots would probably end up driving more new players away, unable to compete with their better geared counterparts.

I definitly agree. I'd like another healing job and tank job as well and I would like for them to be MEANT for the job instead of gimp white mages. If any DD jobs come in, they'll be versatile like blu, cor, and pup. I personally would like Geomancer, Alchemist (or Scholar), and another tank job. That's just my opinion.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Geomancer: Uses elemental shields and weapons for tanking based on environmental surroundings.
Chemist: Uses Ninja-like tools to mix and match ingredients for healing and damage based attacks.
Berserker: Heavy-DD tank with high defense, that deals more damage as they take more hits.

Screw everyone else, give me what I want, SE.

Re: The OFFICIAL "Wings of the Goddess" @ E3 2007 Thread!

Scholar just scans enemies and casts low-tier white magic, not particularly gifted with melee. There's a reason this job was already chopped up and distributed to other jobs after FFIII.

Alchemist could be very interesting if played right. I see a consumable based job able to create temporary items they can use to support, cure and fight/enfeeble/debuff an enemy in unique ways. Give a Scavange-like ability to find stuff on the field they can use, too.

Geomancer is intersting but could be potential victim of the environments around it if SE played it too close to origin. I'd like to see the Mog Dancer/Geomancer hybrid, though. Mog learned his magic in specific environments, but could take his Dance magic elsewhere.

And Vikings. Give em a B in axe and sword, and A+ in club. Heavy armor. Tank potential here.

Job balance aside for a moment, my guilty pleasure hope would be for Juggler to be added. Kind of a non-magic enfeebler/buffer/damage dealer class with throwing weapon skills. May step on a few too many other jobs toes (COR for example) but really I just want Juggler AF gear. :D

Get rid of Berserker(which by description would be an ineffective DRK) or replace it with something that would fit better in the game... like a buff/support job that could fill the role of BRD, COR, SMN(if they fixed it), and maybe even RDM.

Also, hopefully like ToAU, these jobs won't have one function to them. Allow them to work as several roles. Give Geomancer access to party buffing abilities, along with their tanking ability, maybe even high rank in a good DD weapon like Bow(love for those Woodworkers).

Yes, nobody rushes to play the new jobs when an expansion comes out. Never happens.
They could add an Accountant job where you grind XP by balancing the books and people would rush to level it to at least 35-40. Adding new tank or healing jobs is admittedly a bandaid solution, but at least on the short term it'd up the numbers available at lower levels. Give 'em desirable subjob traits and a different approach to their roles (like the aformentioned consumable-based Alchemist healer) and it'll help.
Of course the argument can be made that no new jobs are necessary, that one i'll leave to others, but if they are going to add new jobs make them healers or tanks rather than yet more damage dealers.
