Re: The OFFICIAL "Wings of the Goddess" @ E3 2007 Thread!
Alright, I've read my fair share of the hype and speculation, and some things should be said. Let me clear up some general issues here.
NEW RACE
There's not going to be a new playable race anytime soon, folks. There are tons and tons of files related to PCs: Armor, weapons, animations, effects, et cetera. If SE was to add a new playable race, there's hardly be much more room on the installation disc for more content. Besides, all that animation and programming would definitely push back the release date by a very considerable amount.
NEW JOBS
We're getting new jobs alright, probably the standard set of three that SE seems to like doing. A long time ago I heard one was going to be Chocobo Knight, and so far it seems like it's definitely going to be one of them. In further research on my own, however, I couldn't find much more on other job classes that might be to come; all I could find were some extremely vague hints.
PLOT
It seems clear that we're going back in time alright, but that doesn't necessarily make this a prequel. By all means, it very well could be one, but other options lie open. Here's a small musing of mine.
Every video game has that superly awesome bad guy in it, right? Like, the Shadow Lord, Eald'narche, Promathia, etc... and there's always a main plot that continues the plot from before. I don't think Wings of the Goddess is going to be any different.
Perhaps there is yet another major enemy that we must take down to save Vana'diel (again? Geez, haven't we already done this three or four times? lol). So, for the first bit, there's nothing THAT unusual, and then suddenly these strange events start occurring. You're the hero whom saved the world, plus you're an adventurer, so naturally you get caught up in the mess. Then it happens...
The enemy meets you, either in person or using his henchmen in some form or another. After the short meeting (a battle, an argument, anything), the enemy realizes that you'll be a huge menace to his plans if you get in the way. So, how does he get rid of you, you ask? He sends you back in time. Where the story goes from here, I don't know...
I also got the idea that getting sent back in time would end up being something along the lines of an accident that would coincidentally get you wrapped up in the main plot (sort of how CoP did; it's not like you went into Promyvion on PURPOSE! O.o; ).
I might also add that San d'Oria will probably have a heavy influence on the time travel mess one way or another. You can see how so if you've done (and remember) the plot for "A Timely Vist."
