Re: World Transfer Service now in operation

Well, Kirst is british (or scottish, I can't recall), so she'd probably know the conversion.

www.xe.com will give you an accurate change.

Also, Im considering this. My LS is dead, and most of the old faces are doing other things now, might be nice to leave some of the idiots behind. Of course, a) they might choose the same server, and b) theres going to be a whole new host of idiots to meet.

      Which FF Character Are You?

At the moment, the dollar is very close to $2=£1 - sterling is helluva strong.

It might be a little off, but not that much.

I know I paid for my LJ account for the year, which is $19.95, and it came out at about £10 on my statement.

SE are putting it at £14. So not too far off.

          It looks really good!
I didn't know there was another avid Doctor Who viewer here besides me.
I think the series has been great! Can't wait for the last episode next week!
From various LJ communities - there are a lot of icon posters out there. The Byebye one was from a friend of mine.

I have too many John Simm icons >.<

Actually it's the extremely weak dollar. Remind me to thank Dubya for that.

We are getting rid of our pain in the neck on Wednesday - I send you happy thoughts to get you through the rest of Dubya's time.

Edit: Guess it will remain this high for a while.

There are many different economic reasons that the dollar might be weak, but I don't think they're ALL due to the current President.

Barring that, I don't think it was really necessary to bring that up, now was it?

What's necessary at all in these conversations we have that flit from one topic to another?

Making a big deal about what he said is just going to drag it out, rather than drop the subject.

You are right Murphie, it just irks me (probably just a military thing) when people just have to get their digs in on the President.

You can respect the office, but dislike the man. I'm just saying.

I agree. I think you have to pay something like $40 in WoW for toon transfers. There's even worse restrictions. 6 mos. before you can do it again. A ONE MONTH LIMBO PERIOD in which you can't do jack with that character for a month (They say a couple of days, but Blizz's support is so backlogged and with near 10 million subscribers, it's hellacious) You could just level a toon from scratch and get it to 70 in under a month if you were that industrious.

I personally disliked him. Plus, I didn't vote for him.... hmm...

Krist is English, I am scottish by ancestery so we scotts are well known for being tight, the saying "My father dropped a pound coin, and it hit him on the back of the head when he went to pick it up" rings true.

Anyway, if it isn't already availble in europe, it'll probably be 25 pounds, just because the entertainment industry hates europe.
Your probably not wrong their feba we pay extortionate amounts of money compared to teh rest of the world, Itunes for one chargin us double what you pay for the same song, but block us from using the american site. welcome to rip off Britain.

Well today Blair goes and Brown becomes PM.
Yes the Pound is quite strong against the dollar. $25 is about £12.50 - 13 which is 2 hours work minimum for most people after tax. I was merely stating the fact that we are being charged extra to transfere our first character, why not make the first free and subsequent characters cost, some of us have been playing for 2 years + would be nice to have a benefit now and then for the long serving players.
In fact I was just working it out....
When I started FFXI in October 2005 I got 2 content ID's so i could experiment with the game. Today I still have 2 content ID's.
It works out at £9.69 for the monthly subscription + 1 extra content ID.
So I have been playign for 21 months now so I have spent £203.49 whih works out at $405.83 at todays rate of £1 = $1.994
Just makes you think especially for you people who have played since 2003, who must have spent $700 + the cost of the game and expansions just on one game.
If you work out that an average person has 4 content ID's (as some have 12 and some one so lets work on an average) then they'd pay equivilent of about £11 a month so multiply this by the last estimate of 500,000 players. that works out at £5.5m a month in income just from subscriptions from one game thats about $10,969,194.03 a month.
If only 25% of the games population decided to move a character accross a server that would give SE an extra $3.125.000.00.
what a nice little proffit earner for them..
