I dunno. I take away from that setup as "What is the price you're willing to pay for what you believe in?"

    The actual lesson is:
"Your stance isn't as important to you as your emotion says--when it comes to actually paying for your (extreme) beliefs, all of sudden you can find compromise positions acceptable, for their compromised/cheaper prices."

It's not so much philosophy as a mediation tactic; quietly insert the idea of "having to pay a price--as in give up something" into people's head, so they become more flexible and willing to negotiate.

Won't apply here, of course--no matter what you decide to give up, S-E will do what S-E wants. XD

14 pages for a few minor changes on a handful of missions. Wow. I know people care, but this much angst over tiny portions in the universe of FFXI?

I want to see what happens if S-E goes "We want to nerf Rampage, by 10%."

Half the WAR's would say they'll quit the game, you think?

        (2) If you are against the changes, are you willing to help the first people you see shouting for help on CoPs in Whitegate or Jeuno?

On set one with your random question

        1) I am for abortion very pro-choice and i have paid for my friends abortion.

        to you cop question

        2) I'm against the changes to making them "easy" I already feel they are easy, I already help on CoP, Im not going to help on random shouts for help, why you may ask? I use to help on random shouts all the time and 97% of the time they have no clue about the mission. Now if people /t me and ask for help they usually know the mission so i go help. Easy or Not I have already helped on tons of CoP. After cop blitz
        should have:
        185 Wins on Promys
        47 mino wins
        10 Mammet wins
        20 Diab wins
        7 mithra wins
        8 snoll wins
        39 U/O wins
50 Tenzen wins (so fun to slaughter him lol)
        9 "8-1" wins
        7 tower climbs
        4 pot bcnm
        11 Promethias

so should i still now that its easier have to go back and help people who wanted things handed to them?

I'm not talking about people who tried cop and couldn't win. I'm happy for these people because they made an effort to beat them, but the people who complain about how hard promies are and have never done them thats why I'm mad. Lots of people on ifrit complained about them and have never tried to beat cop.

Sorry to disappoint, Legal, but I only have a Myspace as a blog for my MMO/Video game reviews and commentary (that lacks any RL pics, info, or rants, and is done in Carbuncle-colors because I'm a summoner in XI.), and I think the whole media-emo tangent is for children who need to grow up. I'm far too old for that nonsense.

But then again, you're always finding ways to defuse people's entire points with side tangents.

A MMO *is* about who you play with. (See Lyonheart's post if mine is too 'emo' or whatever for you.) You can be doing the hardest fight ever concieved on any MMO in the history of man, and I will guarantee it won't be as stressful as it would be with a bunch of idiots you never met before that day. The quote you picked out wasn't even remotely emo. All I say is I'd take easy or hard, if I had people to enjoy it with and that's suddenly emo? Do you lack friends? Are you upset about that? Was my wording of my losing interest too flowery? I'm an author, dear, that's what I do. Get over it. In lolintarwobspeak: "The game sucks now. It's boring. Angry people make it un-fun."

Which was, yes, completely tied to the entire topic of the update. Is the difficulty of a handful of BCNMs and/or Promys going to ruin this game for you? Will it change your friends/LS/whatever? Will it change your overall social and gaming experience? Is something you're likely *never* going to go back and play through going to make or break your game? Will WotG be doomed from the outset? *cue cheesy dramatic music*(far more emo than anything I said, I'm afraid, and it's been mentioned far too often) Again. We have a handful of screens. A video or two. And an assload of speculation about how *this* change reflects on WotG and the future of XI. It could mean nothing, but the thing is, we won't know until we get there.

To answer the more fun and intelligent output of Silent Bob there:

No, the changes will not make me immediately run through CoP to complete it. It cannot be pursued in small time-chunks, as it is designed for people who enjoy spending their time after school/work playing it, and do not overall mind the loss of large amounts of time. I do mind them. They are better spent out and about. The difficulty of a Promy is not an issue for me, personally. I've never cared about how hard a fight is, I see those as a challenge to meet. It is the time required in preparation, gathering a group, farming, etc that keeps me from bothering.

As Little Ninja has also pointed out, this really is not going to convince many people to suddenly help others through CoP. All it may do is ease up the troubles for those going through it. Or it may not. No one knows the extent of these changes yet, and already deem them to be life-altering.

The kicker will be the annoncement that the changes were something along the lines of 5 more minutes in a BCNM, or 10% less HP on a boss in a Promy. I think I'd have to laugh then.

In conclusion, I'm finished with this thread now. Those of you who aren't superficial and immature, even if you don't agree with me, thank you for at least reading my posts and responding intelligently.

          Cookies for everyone~ Now chill.

Wow, you bumped this thread to add nothing? The only thing worse would be if it was months old.

I don't know, is it old enough to be qualified as a necropost?

It doesn't matter if it's needed or not, just do it because it sounds like fun.
