ok here is how it works via a kid who baught crimson legs: They do not take real money for the items. The Shouter in your city is just a mule because why would they leave a real character ( by this i mean lvled in a citym it would only hurt $$$/time earnings). The legit players (jp/hk who use to sell) would then divide the money among attending shell mems, rmts use it to seel to gil buyers, to make thier money irl.

Well, I knew it was a mule or just a "shout bot" (LOL) but it seemed fairly obvious to ME that they were RMT shouting. Doesn't matter if they make gil or dollars off of the items, the gil they get will be translated to dollars anyway when they sell it to some other idiot.

Or, you could look at it as RMT now have 2.8 billion gil isntead of 5.6 billion gil. Seems a little more positive(though not by much, I'm just glad they got banned).

I am glad thety are taking action against rmt's, but in my view undercutters are damaging the economy just as bad as RMT's. Why is it we go nuts over rmt's, but not much is said about people who bring down the prices to unreasonable levels. An example of this is the scroll teleport-Holla on Lakshami. Right now if I am lucky it will sell for 18k, and this is if someone doesn't put 1 up for less before I get home from work. I almost think the AH should be changed so that this price drop wouldn't be allowed on an hour to hour basis. The main thing undercutters do is kill the supply of crafted items(it causes false overdemand and it frustrates legit crafters and farmers). I'm not sure what can be done about the undercutters, but in my mind they are doing as much damage to the economy as rmt's.

I'm sure that the buyer that is paying far less than the "going rate" wouldn't have any complaints against people that under cut

One is against the rules, the other isn't. There is no ToS that guarantees you a profit.

I don't know, I have no problem with undercutters. It's a way of influencing the economy. Sell something farmable at such a low rate that other people stop farming it, then hike up the price 300%, now people that need it will be buying it and making you a lot of monies!

I think that's how it was designed. Anyone can post something on the AH for what the last 10 sell prices were, but those deteremined to make gil in this game will now how to effect the market to profit. Nothing wrong or immoral in that way of thinking, at least no in my opinion.

When it involves 1-time quest items or 24hr drops the price should not go down hour to hour(as these are stable demand products--such as buying a TV). Yes the prices eventually drop after a period of time, but not as fast as they seem to be falling(5-10kdrop in 2 real days on an item that has a value of around 25k is a little extreme in my view). What no-one is picking up is that with de-flation, there will be a dramatic inflation at some-point if it remains un-checked. I am not saying that undercutting is totally bad(as is rmt), but if it contuines unchecked will lead to worse problems than the rmts.

But why buy a questable item?

Do the quest yourself or with a group and you won't have to worry about buying items.

If you are farming the items to sell, then its open game for other people that mass farm said item. When I started playing in Sep06, I was farming Warp scrolls. Why? Because it was easy gil as a new player, Warp scrolls were 80-100k and took 40ish mins to do. You can bet I under cut by 20-30k off the "going" price.

Only thing that really bothered me about farming Warp scroll was at the number of people that didn't bother to do the quest themselves.
