Fast selling consumables and possibly NM drops that are easy to camp, also with a hint of maybe players selling their gil to RMT.

How are they making that much gil in the first place?

By cheating, thats why they were banned in the first place.

4000 banned accounts works out to 12.5 Million gil per account, and while that is a lot of gil, it is doable. Not that each account would have had an even amount of gil but it isn't as impossible as it at first seems.

Accounts from people that were previously confirmed to have RMT connections, or that have violated the user agreements but re-subscribed to PlayOnline.
Approx. 1450 cases

I'm not sure nor am i going to search it but i don't remember seeing this in previous bannings...could be wrong.

2 years ago when i first started playing FFXI i was wide eyed and ready to jump in the game. Came home installed, updated, registered and started exploring Bastok on the Siren Server. When it got late i decided to logout and chat with a few DnD buddies i used to play with. Found out they started playing FFXI also but on different servers. So canceled and remade a char on Bahamut. Partying with my friends in the dunes they all had +1 gear...asked how they got all that and they just replied " You can get it on the AH" So after the party and unlocking our subjobs i decided to go check out the AH and get some new gear. Prices were nice and affordable but i was running out of gil. So i took up fishing. Fishing brought ina nice haul but sold slowly and i wasn't getting any profit due to buying rods and bait. So my friends told me about a cool site called IGE i could buy gil from for fairly cheap. Buy gil? but you can only get it in game...So i logged checked it out and lo and behold i'd be rich in a mer second. SO i decided i'd buy 2 mil so i could lvl without stoping to make gil. So i lvled and started a craft and started making more gil thru Clothcraft.

So continuing to play, i hopfully like some player neglected to read the ToS. Didn't think there was alot of restrictions to this game thought it was a nice and free for all MMO. Now later hearing and reading of all the bannings due to RMT and its more than 15mins of fame its getting put me in a lil guilty phase. Realizing i prolly fuled the uproar of RMT by me buying that 2 mil. Yeah I bought gil...2 years ago...but that account is long gone. deleted him after i moved from home. Should i be punished now? I dunno. Still to this day i sometimes kick myself somewhat realizing what i might have put into play.

Now i sit back fishing, gardening and crafting like i once did. Making more than enough. Reporting "Susicious Activity" when i see it, possibly trying to amend what i once did.

If a person sells Gil for money, he is a gilseller--a bona fide RMT. There's no functional difference between a "player" who sells Gil and RMT. >_>

Great, I haven't been able to log on for about 3 weeks(due to my x-box). I finally get it back tomorrow so i'll see if I was selling gill unconciously also.

Jei, I'm courious as to why u got banned(what did the GM tell u)?

So by third party things do they mean Windowers and stuff? Or is that the people who hack?

Technically Windower is included as a program that breaks the ToS, but their have been no actions taken against users for using windower, and only windower, yet. So for now, it can be considered safe to use.

His account was closed and they won't tell him why. Basically as far as Vana'diel is concerned Jei woke up dead one morning.

Gil really isn't that hard to make. I can make about 400k to 600k a day, if ALL I DO for 8 hours is sit and farm my *mob of choice*. Probably more if I sub THF.

But it's boring.

That's what they do, they just sit and farm all day, and it really can add up. But most normal person can't really bring themselves to do it without shooting themselves in the face

I wonder how much a typical RMT company (like IGN) make in profit, after calculating their costs? Is it a real money maker or is it like a group of 3 people with multiple accounts XD
