    At the following time we will be conducting PlayOnline server maintenance. During this time, PlayOnline, FINAL FANTASY XI and Tetra Master will be unavailable.

    Additionally, "FINAL FANTASY XI Linkshell Community Beta version" as well as the services that are accessible from the official PlayOnline homepage (http://www.playonline.com/), will be unavailable for the duration of the maintenance.

    Great 4pm-2am on Tuesday that screws up a prommy the LS had planned grrrrrr. 10 hours is quite a long maintenace this time.....
    so thats

    EST = 11am-9pm
    CST = 10am-8pm
    MST = 9am-7pm
    PST = 8am - 6pm
    JST = 1am-11am

    So the Japanese miss nothing the rest of US get some disruption but yet again 100% disruption for a day to europeans (yet gain)

      I'm more annoyed by the fact that FF12 isn't out till the end of next week....

      Faf going into times I can deal with much

        If it wasn't for the fact this is happening on tuesday, instead of mondays like they usually do, I might have agreed that this was some JP biased schedualing. But seeing as they decided to work around an American holiday, I can't do that.

          The game is Japanese, so if they try to avoid doing maintenence at times where it would be inconvenient for JP players it would make perfect sense to me.

          People can whine all they want but if I was in SE's position I'd do the same, local players take priority over foreigners in this kind of thing, and I'd be annoyed if it was otherwise.

            You're thinking is too narrow. SE is a business and FFXI is an external service that generates revenue. When you have take that service down, you do it when it impacts the least number of customers. There are more Japanese players then American and European players combined.

              That's kinda obvious though, from a functional perspective you do it at the times it impacts the less number of players, but that doesn't change the fact that local players will always take priority over the others.

                If they are looking after the locals first why are they making them work at 1am

                  When you're running an international service, if there were less local players then international players you wouldn't put them before your major paying customer base.

                    I agree kristeena, The wait is too long for FFXII. I have the game and book ordered in amazon for the last year!!!

                          Wow... the 'this sucks for my timezone' complaint was the first reply this time.

                          SE has always done maintenance during normal PST business hours. It hasn't changed and I doubt it ever will. I understand it's frustrating but it will never change.

                          I remember when they announce 4 hours of maintenance that turned into 10 hours a few times. The last several have all been kept in the announced timeframe and a few have even been done early. From what I've heard from my ex-ls mates who play other MMOs now, we have it pretty easy as far as maintenance is concerned.
