Yeah, i was just victimized by it earlier today by a well-known hack/RMT on Remora (Susany) that never seems to get banned.
Was fleeing towards a NM spamming provoke....and all of a sudden the name was purple and Susany appeared at Hoo's side....when she was all the way on the other side when I started my run.......yet, after numerous GM calls by many players, she's still there 24/7
And the Sky RMTs remain on Titan. Really wonder who they actually banned.....
I have to wonder it its across all servers or just various sets of them. Seems like they'd do investigations by specific servers rather than all at once. If that's the case, then it explains why we lost sky RMT before and now have the taru BLM legion known as HolyBaby.
I love seeing S-E's bans... it reminds me that they actually care about legit players and making they're experiences better... unlike some companies which I will not name...
I just wonder why the hell they don't fix their shitty code so PoS warping etc are no longer possible. I'll admit I'm not a game designer or code guru but surely if they know how it's done and can detect why can't they then prevent it happening? Other games have had similar exploit issues and have since recoded environments and encounters to remove them so why, after 5 years, are the same exploits in the game as ay launch?
Because movement is handled client-side. I can simulate a warp hack if my lag is really bad (on my client I am still moving, but server-side I am lag-o-porting everywhere).
The warp hack exploits the fact that the game doesn't care how far you move, just that you report your position when it asks. It doesn't do the math of HOW you got there. So the pos hack basically just gives it a map and position and the game updates your location server side and sends down the right data.
It's a fundamental flaw that cannot be fixed without redoing everything about the game's functionality.
For an example of server-side movement, see WoW. Causes some freaking weird looking fights and what not when the server's laggy. I've also seen "running in place" (being yanked back to where I had started from) a couple times.

I reported four chars the other night for suspected fishing bots. All four had ???? job id, all fishing gear, no other gear at all excpet for a Lu-shang rod + bait. the chance sof that in one place?! Surely remote!
I really hoped I was wrong...but we never find out do we sadly.
