Chocobo Raising Changes and Additions (12/07/2006)

Two big new additions are being planned for the coming version update--Kamp Kweh and the Chocobo Hot and Cold Game! Also, several features such as new abilities and changes in chocobo behavior all guarantee to take chocobo raising to a higher level of excitement!

Several new additions are in the works for December's version update. Here is a sample of what is in store:

    Kamp Kweh

Kamp Kweh is a place where adventurers can bring their chocobos to interact with others, as well as view the conditions of the other participants' animals.

    Chocobo Hot and Cold Game

Now, treasure-hungry adventurers from around Vana'diel can use their very own chocobos to hunt for buried loot in the Chocobo Hot and Cold Game. From chocobo digging pros to newcomers, this exciting new event has something for everyone!

    How to Participate
First speak to one of the VCS representatives stationed in Bastok, San d'Oria, or Windurst. After an explanation of the rules, the representative will give you a chocograph with the name of several areas on it, as well as a clump of Tandjana wildgrass, used to call your chocobo in the field.
*Your chocobo must be registered before participating.
*You must possess the maps of the areas listed on the chocographs.
*After using a clump of Tandjana wildgrass, you must let your chocobo rest 24 hours before receiving a new one.

    How to Play
    1. Use the Tandjana wildgrass in one of the areas designated on your chocograph.
    2. Once your chocobo arrives, your map will open and a marker (???) will indicate the general location of a hidden treasure coffer.
    3. Ride your chocobo to the vicinity of the marker and dig. Depending on the relative distance you are from the coffer, your chocobo will react differently.
    4. Your chocobo will tire after a certain number of digs. The game is over when you find the treasure or if your animal becomes too fatigued to dig anymore.

    Chocobo Status

Several new chocobo statuses will be added in the next version update. Also, any status condition affecting your chocobo will be cured when it achieves its next state of growth.

    New Statuses
Two new beneficial statuses being added are "bursting with vitality" and "sparkling with intelligence." During these times, not only will training programs yield better results, but your chocobo will also be more receptive to physical and mental stimulation.

    Chocobos in Love
Previously, a chocobo being in love would only negatively affect the success rate of its training. However, with the next version update, this certain status will now sometimes benefit the chocobo.

    Other Changes and Adjustments

Taking your Chocobo for a Walk
When you take your chocobo for a walk, it may now find items for you.

    New Abilities
When obtained through a certain quest, the new ability known as "treasure finder" will improve your chocobo's chances of locating hidden coffers when playing the new Chocobo Hot and Cold Game.

I wonder what kind of items you'll get from the Hot and Cold? @_@ Hopefully something at least slightly worthwhile. I like the sound of Kamp Kweh as well, because I'd like to see how others have done with their Choco's, without really having to ask everyone. Kinda compare progress and what not. :3

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Maybe Kamp Kweh can also function as a place to actually find a bird for mating based on what the bird actually looks like/does.

So far, apart from inter-LS mating, I've seen people selling their chococards for 50k-75k and the only guarantee before you buy the damn thing, is a brief bazaar description. How can you trust some random guy that may or may not be trustworthy?

Now you can actually scope out the prospects and make the ever-loving hook-up.

That's true, I'd expect it to be possibly a place that they can breed as well, I mean a bunch of chocos all gathered together in some camp area? Bow chicka wow wow~ I'd think. >_>

Btw--Hantz, I'm just curious, is there like someone that is supposed to post up news as it comes out? Or is it just whoever finds it and posts it first? I'm just curious about it.

          Kweh! Kamp Kweh!

When choco-raising first appeared, I thought "Exhibit to the Public" was literally that other players could see what your chocobo looked like and what it's stats were. I was quite surprised (and disappointed) when it was only a cutscene with NPC children.

I wonder if Kamp Kweh is due to players asking for what my original thought was. ^^

This all sounds exciting. I can't wait until this hits. Gonna be having fun with that Hot and Cold game.

Now, if only SE would hurry up with that Chocobo Racing!

I don't think so. If there is someone designated to do it, it's not me. I think whoever gets to it first will just post it up and the mods move it to official news. I check it first thing in the morning when I get to work, so I've caught a few here and there.

Ah okay, I was just curious, cause I tend to see you or other people posting it, but it usually is the same people. I had expected it wasn't a specific job, but was just a little curious. :3

Wow, this is really interesting. I, too, have had the problem of finding a suitable mate for my chocobo, and I don't trust the bazaarers in the least.

As for the Chocobo Hot+Cold, I'm really hoping it gives somewhat decent stuff.(maybe ??? items or something, If they're worried about a mass influx of good stuff) It's reminding me of Final Fantasy 9 all over again.

"Choboco: Hot and Cold" sounds like an excuse to breed a digging Choboco rather than Mr. Rental/speedy...I wonder how many people actually have chobocos with brains?

Re: Chocobo Raising Changes and Additions (12/7/2006)

I went looking for silver beastcoins on somepage.com and the minute I got there, this new chocobo addition caught my eye, so I started reading up on it all and it all sounds very interesting to me indeed!

There's just a couple of things I'm slightly worried about.
1 - Part of the quest requires that you call your chocobo by using Tandjana wildgrass. What happened to using our chocobo whistles from the previous chocobo quest? Do they still count in this new quest?

2 - Kamp Kweh Kweh...... I'm not sure if this will be a problem or not, but if there are too many players gathered all in one area at once, won't it cause lag?

I remember standing around near the outpost in West Ronfaure ages ago (just a few yards away) watching other players gather there and getting themselves sorted and ready for that quest or tournament where you spawn lots of orcs and group together to battle against them. (I can't remember what it's called right now)
After a while the number of players building up in that one area, brought quite a bit of lag. It was getting rather heavy on it too, even though I wasn't involved.
I could have stood around to watch the rest of what was happening, but I was forced to move onto different areas because of the lag.

I suppose I'm just curious if the same problem will arise with Kamp Kweh.
Does it all come down to what graphics you have e.t.c?

                      Okay, lastly......
Is this one of those special events setup just for Xmas, like the Halloween one at Halloween, or is it a long term thing?

Also, since my chars home city is Sandy, I left there quite a while ago and have been spending more time in Windy, (and its neaerst oulands) and haven't been back to Sandy in ages. So if I go back there and I get a message (from the npc guy at the stables) saying that my chocobo has died, or something to that effect, do you guys think that I will still be able to do the original quest again?
