  • FFXI Account Bannings

    http://www.playonline.com/ff11eu/polnews/news9098.shtml

    From Playonline.com:
    ------------------------------------------------------------
We would like to report the termination today of multiple accounts held by players involved in the usage of third-party tools or cheats, or engaged in RMT (Real Money Trading) activities.

In relation to the severity of the violation, over 2,500 accounts were temporarily suspended, while over 9,000 accounts were permanently banned.

Details of the violations are as follows:

    - Usage of tools that allow enhanced character movement.
    Approx. 1,100 cases
    - Usage of tools that circumvent game mechanics with respect to the timing of ability use, etc. in certain areas or at points where Notorious Monsters appear.
    Approx. 6,400 cases
    - RMT-related activity
    Approx. 4,000 cases

The termination of these accounts has led to the removal of approximately 45 billion gil from circulation.

We would like to remind players that the use of third party programs adversely affect game balance. Along with affecting game balance, other risks can arise from use of third party programs that are not immediately obvious such as possibly introducing damaging viruses and compromising the security of private account details. Usage of third-party tools will not be tolerated within FINAL FANTASY XI and we will continue to severely penalize any players found to be in violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

During this round of account terminations, we mainly focused on RMT operations that were active within Japan. However, rest assured that our continued investigations encompass all regions where RMT activity is occurring.

As we continue to ensure a fun and balanced environment for FINAL FANTASY XI, we hope that our players enjoy the game as it was intended and take care to avoid involvement in activities that violate the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks go to Kristeena for posting the original alert for this.

Wow, its kind of sad to see even a small number of "legit" players using botting for NM. Though I must say, at least we know that SE is doing what they say and keeping to it in terms of bannings. I wonder how much impact would 45 billion gil removed could make now.

I had a look on IGE's website, virtually every server is out of gil.

On Bahamut, it looks like they have got a couple of notorious crafters, and a fair amount of sky gilsellers have been whacked with the ban stick.

        Holy... shizzle.

Maybe this'll cheer people up/bring people back to the game...

If this is as good as it sounds, this could be one of the defining moments in FFXI.

          Re: FFXI Account Bannings

Well, I really hope that some of the people who I have suspected of being RMT crafters got the ban as well, it'd be nice to be able to make a profit with weaving again.

Haha, I love your sig Akashimo

I wonder how far this special task force will go. For instance I think I remember reading in the ToS that afk botting was not allowed, implying that botting while at a computer was. So I'm wondering if HNM LS that use claim bots will have to start trying to claim normally, and if non afk fish botters will start getting into trouble now.

It'll be interesting to see how this affects the server prices for items.

And congrats to all those LS out there who can now get that Ullikimi~whatever mob!

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

Thats the only thing i really like about RMT crafters, they make consumables super cheap and to be honest I don't care too much if real players are getting hurt by it, I'm getting my sushi for cheap and I'm sure the rest of the server appreciates it too except the 5% or less who makes sushi for a living.

And good job SE making gil unavailable to buy on fairy at least on IGE, its a big step to an game with no RMT interference.

Thing is, it wasn't just cooking they were dominating... pretty much every craft had a synth being exploited by them and it made it much harder to make money than it should be.

Those could all be legit mules... My mules are all at least level 6 except for my Jeuno mule (and they're dressed up too--they wear my various low-level gear sets). I know I'm always running around on a mule at some point--usually at the start of gaming and frequently if I'm crafting and I need stuff from a particular town.

I'm hoping to see the Avt, Brspernm, Ddfejf, etc. crowd of Alchemy crafters disappear... but I'm not going to hold my breath, even though it's nice to see RMT wiped out...

Yes, they sell sushi cheap... but they also horde gil. If you buy from a legit crafter, remember that they'll spend that money on your stuff whereas a gilseller will not. Gilseller money doesn't turn in the economy as much as legit player money--they bank a lot of gil. 1.5 billion gil on average has been eliminated from the servers--this gil has not been in circulation because a good portion of it, I'll wager, has been sitting on gilseller bank mules. Now, when they start collecting again, they'll absorb say another billion and then get blasted, wiping out yet another billion gil from the economy. Every time a billion gil gets blasted, your money becomes more valuable.
