    I actually, going back to what you said Khold, think that this is a good idea. I don't think it will ruin any mage class, but it will definatly eliminate a bunch of the reliance we have on Manaburn strategies for certian things.

        First, they make the mobs in the new area resistant to blakc magic.

        Now, I can't manaburn with my friends (who I was going to static with) anymore.

        you just made one taru very, VERY angry and I will personally singe off the balls of whoever came up with this idea.

            A few facts and projections:
            1) This nerf only effects NM/HNM. Normal mana burn parties will not be effected in any way/shape/form
            2) How the resistance works/begins to wear off is unknown at this time.

            With these two in state, here comes my projection:

            1) Elemental magic will be effected depending on the kind of element. Essentially, this means everyone won't be spamming Thunder IV (Aero IV in Kirin terms) and will have to rotate nukes. Depending on how long it take resistances to wear down, a rotated nuke schedule will probably be best solution.

            2) Magic will be dependent on the category used against it: Job abilities will cause other JA to be resisted, Elemental will cause other elemental. In this case, BLM would effectively be nerfed as would Ninjutsu burns, but Spirits Within (given numbers) and the others would be left well enough alone

            3) Worse case scenario: Everything proccs resistance for everything. Take up COR/RNG, start leveling WAR, and put away those Staves.
            All spells obtained!

              Nah, the sleep/nuke rate for those is way slower than the nuking rate in a manaburn so I don't think that will change. But of course there's always the chance that SE will screw up with the "adjustment".

                dam everyone is flippin out about this...kinda like when they talked about the rng nerf...gee maybe what happend then will happen this time:

                jeez people get over it already. Yeah it will take a bit more work to kill things that you could just go in an nuke the crap out of but dam it isnt like we havent had to adjust to do stuff before >< Not only that, but who knows it may be so slight a change that noone even notices, let them do this, figure out if it has a bad effect, and no matter what Don't Panic.

                  They're not nerfing your exp parties, unless you're exping on NMs. They're making sure you and your static can't completely destroy Fenrir in 2 minutes, and that you and two other parties of BLMs can't eliminate the Ark Angels with one cast per person. Please, calm down and read the announcement before you freak out about your exp being destroyed.

                    Damn it, I just got a Sorcerer's Ring in a BCNM yesterday. It better sell before the bottom drops out of the market!

                    I still plan on leveling BLM though. The heck with the complainers.

                      Yeah calm down Kupo!, this only applies to Impossible to gauge mobs, so XP parties wont be affected, manaburning missions and stuff like that will.

                      And we have yet to see how much an effect it'll have on NM anyway.

                          But yeah, WARs, get your gear now, because there is (likely) about to be a whole new wave of them.

                          You can't do anything about the mob mentality in this game, unfortunately. People en masse can be so stupid.

                            Yep, its mostly people with Big Damage Number Syndrome(the ones who are "Fast Level 75 uber alles" and "i did more dmg than you"). After Rng--> blm, I think it will go:
                            Smn-->Blue mage-->War/nin-->Monk-->Sam
                            When drg is the last job unnerfed, they'll kill themselves, and vana'diel will be rid of a vast percentage of n00bs.
