Re: New Notorious Monsters and Battlefields!(07/19/2006)

4 days? That all? I've gone weeks as Thf without invites.

Hence the comments - welcome to our world.

And no.. we don't get to join TP burns. Our WS's aren't that awesome and EVERY job is capable of doing what Thf does - only better post 60.

    Welcome to our world.

Well, what I mean is that there are about five different ways I could take this the way it's written. It's not terribly specific. Add that to their past translation tendencies, a bit more clarity wouldn't hurt.

Honestly, for anything that isn't drastically simple, SE sucks at English.
If you want to be specific, english sucks at english.

It's just not a very good language.

Just to point something out, since the BCNM40 for the PPC has been mentioned, it is just as easy to do this bcnm with 2 rngs and 1 rdm, just throwin that out there.

English is one of the greatest languages there is. Don't confuse your lack of understanding of it as its shortcomings. Oh, and English is a pronoun so it should be uppercase.

I wouldn't count on it. You'd have to tank 5 mobs + 2 pets ( although the pets can be slept ) with 1 PLD, 1 NIN and very little healing power.

That's also assuming that *all* NMs, including ENM and BCNM mobs are included in this update. But to me, it doesn't seem that way. Certain BCNMs are made for certain jobs and set ups, there's no need to be 'fair' about which jobs can do them. Certain BCNMs Blm sucks, others it's great, same with all other jobs.

I think this only applies to the 'big bad' NMs and HNMs, the ones where people use Blm and ONLY Blm.

Therefore, for the next update we have decided to implement an accumulative magic resistance effect for all monsters whose strength reads "impossible to gauge."

Well, I'm glad SE has finally done something about the manaburners who just blast their way through CoP(there's a HUGGGGGGGEEEEEE problem when a group is able to do the Ultima/Omega run in less than ten minutes), while at the same time not causing damage to standard Exp-manaburning groups.

                      you can still manaburn

unless they gain uber resistance after first nuke

unless its a manaburn where you have to cast many times, i doubt there will be a huge problem

peacock will still be manaburnable (lol new word), if each mage does a different spell, seeing as peacock usually has 4-5 BLM, thats 2 thundagas, 2 blizzagas, 2 aerogas, 2 firagas and 2 watergas, i bet damage wont be lacking, and if need be a third round isnt impossible, should worry more at sleeps, unless those arent affected, which they probably are

for gods, hnm, and some nm it might be a bit worse, know what? thats not just blm taking a hit, thats blu too, and red mage, many others.

and im laughing at dynamis lord... ^^ bye bye spirits within.

adapting will be the challenge, those who adapt will manage

CoP is going to become worse to complete than it is now. SMNs and BLMs both take a hit from this update. Everyone here seems to be talking almost solely about BLM, but there are other jobs that do use magic afterall.

Wonder how this affects the Fenrir fight with people using 6xSMN.

Wonder if this affects the Maat fight for BLM, RDM, BRD, SMN, etc.

Everyone complains about BLM manaburning through CoP, when a large portion of CoP BCNMs were completed by teams that threw SMNs at it, the Promies, Mammets, and Trackers come to mind.

It's good in that BLM gear prices will probably drop due to an initial panic, and I'll pick up some sweet gear.

It'll also make melee work harder. Some melee I know are already excellent, but it's the crappy melee that will get hit from this as well.

For clarity though, if anyone could please translate the JPN version from the POL site? To doublecheck and make sure that S-E's Babelfish program translated their information properly.

Anyone explain to me how Diabolos is going to be killed now without dieing? I may be just lacking here, but as far as I know the only way to kill him without dieing is BLMx5, and a RDM/DRK probably.

This wont really hurt Under Observation, because it says that you wont really notice the change from just one or two nukers so that wont change much. It also wont effect mana burns, or pet burns, because it only effects Impossable to guage monsters.

Now that I think about it, depending on the strength of the resistance, it may just take another round or two of spells to kill. Take ODS for instance.

Lets say you go in, 5blm 1brd. It takes abotu 2 rounds of aga to kill the scorps. It may take 3 now, 4 tops. Take a bit longer, but still doable.

The update says that the resistance decreases with time. I'm sure there will be some time between spells. This is hardly a nerf, rather a way of forcing casters to use variety in their nukes.
If this is really the way it will work, then this does little to a manaburn anything other then BCNM's < 60.

5 BLM. BLM 1 casts Tornado, once its landed the other 4 cast their highest Ice spell. BLM 2 casts Flood, the other 4 cast their highest Thunder. Wash, rinse, repeat. Always repeat.

You know, if you replaced BLM with 5 WAR or 5 RNG or 5 anything else no one would complain about it, but because its BLM its horribly unbalanced.

Manaburn is NEVER the only way.

It may not be the ONLY way, but as far as I know, Diabolos 2hr is almost impossable to survive.
