      ya the akways tweak something just means we need to tweak things some more. SE just want to balance the game , if they giv mobs a magic restistance just means we have to use other meas, to rip the mobs apart. ehhehehe hope they dont tweak things to much

        well, the way I see it is NM & HNM fights will be longer.

        We will now need more DRKs, MNKs and SAMs in HNMLS and even more CORs.

        COR 2 hr will give Melee DDs chance to 2hr HNMs multiple times.

        We will need to determine the ratio of Physical Damage to Magical damage needed to remove the resistance. I do not think it could be a 1 to 1 ratio, that would be ridiculous. Most HNM have very high physical Defense, so 1.5-2.5 Magical to 1 Physical ratio is most likely.

        So if 5 BLMs open up with Thunderga III and hit for 1200 each (keeping it simple) for a total of 6k damage, melee would then need to deal 4k damage if it is a 1.5 ratio or 3k of it is a 2.0 ratio to reset magical resistance back to 0.

        Now for certain kited NMs this can be problematic, more coordination on the part of melee and perhaps mages to stun/bind + spam WSs then kite again may be needed.

        I remember my old HNMLS 1st Kirin after the RNG nerf, it was slow and painful and messy but after a short time new tactics were employed that onces again got Kirin fights back to easy as pie status.


        Samurai is a job that revolves around TP. It'd be great if we could modify samurai in regards to the timing of their weapon skills or various other ways to utilize their TP ability. Also we'll give samurai a new ability which when used will lower an enemy's TP.
        I hope SE implements this change(mentioned at the Fan Festival) to SAM very soon this would help the situation I think.

          I disagree with that ratio speculation. It seems to be a timed thing. As time increses resistence decreases. Maybe I'm just missing your point, but the amount of melee damage won't affect magical resistance.

          I think everyone is thinking too deep. It seems simple if you take the announcement literally. It doesn't say elemental resistance will increase, magical resistance will. I am taking that as said. Though of course bad translation and other factors could make that incorrect.

          And also it directly says resistance will decrease over time. Nothing about melee damage was ever said. So maybe try explaining what you mean with those ratios. Cause if you mean it how I read it, then I disagree with you completely.

          Plus that would be a mess to figure out. 10 melees attacking at different attack speeds doing different amounts of damage EVERY hit. Not to mention temporary adjustments, (Warcry, Berserk, etc) How long is that in that? I don't wanna even bother thinking about it. Have fun trying though.

            Hmm, I read through this thread and one a KI since I read the announcement I must have gotten that impression from the threads and not the announcement. IF it is merely time based then I think it kind of sucks, becaue we then have no tactics to combat it other then waiting.

              thats exactly why they are doing this. 1 or 2 blms wont be able to cast enough magic to raise resistance enough to make a big difference. but 4 to 18 will see a difference. End manburn HNM events, while not effecting exping at all. cause in exp itll be dead before it gains resistance to significantly matter.

                  Another friend is consistently solo'ing at 75 for 4-5k/hour (More if he wasn't lazy). That's better than some traditional PTs (Sad to say) at those levels...

                      Any GOOD pt should be able to break 6k, sorry.

                      Manaburn honestly sucks at pretty much every level except 51-59ish, with very, very few exceptions.


                      If you friend is soloing that high and for high chains, they're also likely hunting pets, which i've never seen PTs do for whatever reason.
