      I'm really interested to see what kind of stats they trot out for the AF on these new jobs. I mean, when AF was introduced for the other 15 jobs, the level cap wasn't 75. Will they make it so this stuff is really viable long-term? Or will it be scaled down to match the other AF that currently exists?

      edit: MNK is a possibility! Scissors three for Elvaan MNK.

        I'm willing to bet the answer is 'scaled down.' That way they can get the new jobs all wrapped up in Relic hell with the others.

            Well, on the other hand, I use two pieces of my RDM AF regularly at 75. Given the known and suspected mechanics of blue magic skill, if BLU gets an AF piece with Blue Magic Skill +15, or even +10, I don't really see them replacing it, ever. (WHM, BLM and RDM all get +15 in their primary magic skill, but SMN and BRD get no more than +5 from any one piece.)

            Similarly, if COR AF has something like Increases Phantom Roll effects, Reduces Bust duration etc., it could be widely used for that even at higher levels, even after the +racc and +ratk is obsoleted by Crimson or whatever.

            As for PUP, if they get automaton +acc, atk, magic acc, magic atk bonus, ranged acc, ranged atk, etc... most of those bonuses don't exist on higher level gear. Given the inability of the master's stats to affect the automaton, AF that boosts the automaton could be more valuable than practically anything. And I'm not even getting into some of the interesting possibilities for unique bonuses like "Increases effects of attachments", "Decreases fatigue from attachment use" or "Enhances 'Maneuver' abilities"...

            However, most jobs eventually replace most of their level 52-60 AF with higher level gear (or keep it only to swap in for particular actions), and I don't see why the new jobs would, or should, be different. It would be pretty boring if your efforts to improve your gear came to a halt at level 60 aside from jewelry and accessories.

              This is incredibly off-topic here, but is anyone else slightly disturbed by how a Galka looks in the Blue Mage AF? I mean, that face veil thingy ... is just ... too girly for a Galka.

                    First off these places arent really built for lvl 75s. i think of very few places where a group of lvl 75 can actually lvl or merit. honestly i think these new areas are built for very high 50's to low lvl 70's. the mass majority of these mobs are EP to D/C to me at 75. rarely can i see a evan match or tough mobs. so i fail to see whats so difficult,
                    Cadevera Mire (sp?) has flies, imps and something else too.. anyway, they all con T-IT to lvl 75.

                      Scaled down depends on what job you do. RDM could, if they so wished use their full AF from the time they get it till 75. Other jobs like SMN or WHM where their performance has little to nothing to do with gear probably could also. Even BLM could if they really wanted to. Melee jobs on the other hand rarely keep a piece of gear that long anyway, so its not that strange that their AF quickly becomes second rate, with the big exception being PLD.

                      I don't think they're going to make AF for the new jobs crappy just because they have other gear choices already. AF sets were made to enhance a jobs abilities, it wasn't just a stopgap or a set of free gear that was made with the expectation you'd never wear it.

                        thats 1 of only 2 places i have been to that a party of 6 lvl 75 can merit at insanely.

                        Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

                          The Problem with scaling down is that there isnt much in the way of accessories to help us out on these new jobs. They will need to create Brand new itemsto make the eventual change from AF to "Something" else feasible. Im not talkign about the Yigit or other "SET" gear. they need to address each job individually liek the others.

                            Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying they will be crappy or useless. Just that it'll be really cool as a set for the first stretch of levels after you can obtain it, and that later on you'll still be getting a SH (not saying SH is what would be best or anything) or whatnot and only using the one or two pieces that still retain their use.

                            I just don't think they'll make the new jobs AF any more usefull to them than the AF is for any other job. They'll want to put in Relic, I'm sure, so that the new jobs will be on completely even footing with the older jobs.

                            Anyway, bottomline in my mind: the AF will be usefull, sure. I doubt that, just because it's for 'new' jobs, that it will be better than the older AFs though.

                              I would at least hope, for everyone's sanity, that the pieces are at least more useful than Bard AF is (above arguments notwithstanding, Bard AF is pretty much obsolete from the moment you get it).

                                Definitely. I hope they're more useful than BRD AF. Poor freaking Bards. They have an ambiguous 2-hour (and that's their only JA) and the same JT in 4 intervals. Then their stinking AF stinks. Let's hope COR isn't singled out and given the BRD AF treatment due to BRD being the closest thing we had to it. I'd rather like to take COR to 75 in the near future.
