    Id imagine a 6-16 hour recharge time on the item, as it is situational, if you call your choc to get from dangerous area to safe area, safe area probably has a chocobo rental anyway.

    Good stuff that you can ride them tho, very very good news.

      Me likies!

      The nice thing about this is, it seems that the chocobos will be comprised of 3-5 components. Each of these components will be customisable 100% in color(via .dat rendering, not breeding), and some people have already done so. So you can have a chocobo any color you like, of any breed you like!

        This makes the most sense. I doubt they'd put in the rarest versions first and then underwhelm us later with extremely common varieties.

        I'd guess Blue and Green will be available as the result of normal breeding, and the other two colors (Black and Red) will be unlockable via a special breeding quest later on.

          Cool, so you *can* call your own chocobo from the field.

          This leaves a big question unanswered though: there are several areas that it seems like you *should* be able to ride a chocobo in, but there is no stable connected to them. Qufim, Beaucedine, Xarcabard, Uleguerand, Lufaise, Misareaux...

          Wouldn't it be awesome if you could call your chocobo in *those* places, too?


          But boy, if you thought there were long lines for the _NPC_ quest when it first came out, you ain't seen nothing yet. I hope SE has some sort of plan for that...

            Karinya, were you around when the NPC quest came out? Literally all but 50 players or so on my server were waiting in those lines.


            The NPC quest was big shit. Chocobo Raising will be bigger, but it will never shame NPC.


            Plus, judging by Treasures of Aht Urhgan job quests, SE has learned from that mistake..

              Ok, I'm officially excited about Chocobo breeding now. Like everyone, I'm mostly interested in the Destrier, but the Palfrey looks kind of cool too.

              Man! I hope the items needed to raise these things isn't ridiculous. I'll cry.

              Actually though, I'll probably wait for the initial rush to slow down. I remember the Adventuring Fellow debacle.

                What would be really cool is if SE decided to implement the Chocobo raising technique in FFVII (or somewhat like it) so dedicated breeders would have a chance to breed that rare, prestige (maybe golden) chocobo...
                Steal for greed or riches, and you may lose your hand. Steal for fame or glory, and the same may happen. But steal for survival or in poverty, and you may get away with a few fingers...

                  Like feba said. And I remember when DRG first came out. *groans* It was impossible to mine in the caverns and it was impossible to get to the BCNM.

                  Moving on, ToAU was fairly painless, so hopefully, the unused Chocobo Area-Thing-Vendor-Place in the new city will see some usage. Going through Caederva Mire just got 100% easier

                        Wow! That's awesome SE has decided to let us ride the chocobo's we raise. I hope though the 'Call' feature doesn't have a long duration timer on it. Still great news though

                          I can't tell yet from the details they've provided. On the one hand, they say it is similar to a signal pearl, which can only be activated once every 20 hours. But on the other hand, they say there will be a waiting period between the time you dismount an the time you can recall it, so that leads me to believe that the duration might be a bit shorter. I don't know.
