    Re: PoL Site Updated- RMT Countermeasures

    IGE is so diverse in MMOs that they'll be down for a day or two in one game and back to normal after that.

    They still got plenty of gil for sale right now, so I think the only accounts SE nuked were the ones that blantantly stated on their site meet at a certain spot in lower jeuno to trade the gil. None of the other crafting bots on my server seemed to be affected, not even the digbots (and 1 of those diggers has 2 strikes against him) and most of the fish bots (though I don't see the yughott bots online)

      Speaking of IGE, I wonder why Allakhazam is still one of the Premier Community Sites. SE must have gotten the memo by now...

        Gil sellers aren't bothered much by accounts being banned, or the gil they've gathered being removed from the economy. They just get new ones (there are thousands of accounts up for 'trade', 'sale', or held somehow else) from a friendly provider- then, they easily make enough gil to pay them back for the account (if applicable), and make profit for themselves for a long time before SE does anything. You'd be surprised to know, but there are people in line paying RMT LSs 50mil for items like Byakko's Haidate.

          Heh, apparently there was also a massive account ban over in WoW. Looks to be a very bad day for Zam.com's sister corporation....

              I find it highly unlikely, but I too hope it is true. With the countermeasures they've taken on people who are actually reported, it's hard to say whether they did anything or not. I've called gm a total of four times. If I remember correctly, all 4 times were because of mpk. The ONLY time the GM decided to do anything was when the mpker decided to go for another round of mpking during my conversation with the GM. Other than that, their responses has always been a "we'll investigate on it, thank you" type response.

                hmmm... how does this affect the current item prices though, last time they removed gil did prices jump up or did they fall down some? Don't want to sound like I only care about my gil, but I kinda wanna know if I should stop buying right now because prices of items are going to drop or stop selling because prices are going to go up.
                Or will even change at all?

                  Re: PoL Site Updated- RMT Countermeasures

                  Last time this happened there was a major drop in prices. Some people made a little money by selling all their high dollar items before the price dropped and then rebuying them for cheaper. That was when the christmas bubble popped.

                    hmm after a good night sleep I look at this and feel... suspecious...

                    250 billion = 250,000,000,000 right?
                    250 accounts so that's approximately 1,000,000,000 per account.
                    32 servers +1 test servers. approximately 8 accounts per server.

                    I know RMT are pro at making gil and all but... is it even possible to make that huge amount of gil even by them? 1,000,000,000 per account is just shocking. And to think that there's 8+ accounts with this amount of gil per server?

                      those 8 accounts per server were likely the major gilseller fish-bots (the yughot ones on my server aren't online right now) and IGE gil banks (if SE went undercover on IGE again, it did not surprise me)

                        Hoo-frickin-ray! It takes me a lot of work to make money, and I like to see the fake money people go down--I get a sort of sick pleasure from seeing people's RL livelihood destroyed when it involves the selling of "virtual" items (seriously, not sarcastically). I really don't care if my assets are reduced--most of the big-ticket items I purchased are ones I don't plan to sell anyway. It'll be nice to see my money worth more on the big board though. IGE still had a lot of gil for sale. I checked ol' Asura since, frequently, they have no gil, now they have a lot. They might be trying to dump their unseized gil before SE puts the squeeze on.

                          At capped gil per acount... wow... I would even take 1/250,000,000,000 of the gil there deleted >.>

                            I wonder...

                            It wouldn't be all that difficult for S-E to go undercover, and plenty of players would love to help if S-E reimburse cost plus a little extra. Free copy of next FF game, maybe?

                            By using random players to buy gil, the RMT companies won't be able to figure out who's working for S-E by tracking by credit card numbers or IP address or anything.

                            RMT's probably outnumber S-E's employees looking for them, but if S-E harness the player base and turn even one out of every thousand "gil buyer" into a "spy", it would give RMT's quite a headache.

                              nah they're arlready getting 20+ from us a month... they could use that to buy gil by themselves, create random char to recieve the gil and that's all information they'll ever need...

                                Just my luck that I buy a bunch of stuff, RMT measures kick in, loads of gil is deleted, and the prices of my re-sell is a fraction of the price. ; ;

                                you hurt me so much SE.
                                I must agree here overall. I lost quite a bit of gil in equipment back in December/January after they banned the numerous RMT accounts. {/cry}

So even if SE didn't ban the characters who were camping your NMs themselves, they did knock a huge chunk out of their livelyhood. Perhaps enough to make them consider another line of work.
                                Probably true somewhat. However, (I am making an assumption, because I do not know entirely.) if they can make that stuff in mere days as opposed to weeks or months like various players, it might not be as disheartening? (P.S. Taskmage, nice new look.)

                                SE definitely could go "undercover" themselves and literally buy all this gil just to ban these hundreds of accounts.
