Still, you would think SE would try to ban even more RMT dealers during the middle of the month. If nothing else, just being able to double charge the RMT company the monthly fee.

Something (as usual for some) that is being overlooked is that SE cant ban RMTs who are just playing the game. Claiming Jeuno HNMs isnt a crime, the selling of the gil made from that is the against the rules. If SE did ban them, they would just come back as we have seen with the new RMT manaburn PTs leveling up. I DO think that SE is trying to beat the RMTs and those participating in dealing with them, by making RMTing a pain in the ass so maybe they will leave on their own. If they do this every few months, that will be a significant blow to their system.

My speculation on this is that SE actually banned the "Gilbanks".
250 billion Gil and being 7 or 8 a server...
And seeing how you can hold a billion - 1...

SE's strategy must be to seek and destroy Gilbanks. I commend you on that.
Gil Duping must be the problem as stated earlier.

I say any RMT banned is a big victory. That's one less idiot that's monopolizing an NM. One less moron that's ruining somebody's day.

Given the complexity of the legal system as it pertains to this area, I'm glad SE was able to make any action.

Well, imagine how disheartening it is if someone steals your scorpion harness or cons you out of a few million gil. Multiply that by like 500 times and that's how a large group of gilsellers are feeling right now. So even if SE didn't ban the characters who were camping your NMs themselves, they did knock a huge chunk out of their livelyhood. Perhaps enough to make them consider another line of work.

Taking out the Gilbanks, if they did this, is a good strategy. SE could stomp on the gilsillers all day and night, but the sellers will keep popping up from under rocks. Taking out their bank though hurts them where it counts. It's easy to pl a character, harder to earn that billion back.

It will be interesting to see what measures the RMT companies will take if SE continues going after their banks.

They have most likely banned the gil holders tho so the Bots camping NMs will still be there. All they have to do is create a new gil holding mule and get it to Jeuno and their back.

Still, I think if SE do this every 2 months or so it will effect the gilsellers in a big way. Even if the bots remain thats still alot of gil to loose. About $3945000's worth.

Just to put it in perspective for people, the current rate for gil is roughly $10 per million.

If the posted information is correct, SE just deleted $2.5 million worth of gil that would have gone to these companies.

Math: 250 billion = 250,000 million

250,000 million * $10/million = $2.5 million

Now, would you call taking $2.5 million away from RMT a small victory?

Split that 2.5m amongst the various companies... It really isn't that big. Sure, they got the gil, but that's time, not actual money. They pay diddly-squat for time (what was it, $6 per week per person in the sweat shops?). So, they lost PROFIT, not money, which isn't truly the same.

I'm not knocking what SE did, I think it's a great start. But unless they keep up on it, that's only a drop in the bucket for gilselling companies.

The question is did it have a noticable impact on say, IGE. When they removed the 300billion gil earlier in the year, IGE's page showed "sold out" on most servers, and only two servers had more than 500k incriments available the next day.

Its hardly a drop in the bucket, and you assume that it was many companies. For all we know there is only one company that uses these so called "illicit" means to dupe gil (if in fact it was duping).

Likewise, those may not be the RMT'ers that were target. Lots of gill "Sellers" sell to gil re-sellers like IGE. SE makes no mention of which group was targeted.

Regardless, drop in the bucket, or broken dam, they are doing these removals with greater frequency now. If they keep it up, it has potiential to rain for 40 days and 40 nights as it were. Lets just hope they DO keep it up.
