Proabably use made up addresses? When importing the Jp version years ago everyone made up addresses and still got on the game. Sure if you tracked their IP's you would wind up in a warehouse somewhere or small building with no evidence of who owns it. Im sure these companies have their backs covered.

Did they remove the ones specifically camping in Oz or something? Because on my server all of our Oz campers are still there. They might not have banned the actual campers, just the holding mules who transfer the gil to customers.

Heck, that actually makes the most sense, really.

Not checked but whenever RMTs get banned they dissapear for a bit. One using a warp hack camping Okotes was suspended for 3days and then was back doing the exact same thing 3days later. Things like that are why people complain about SE but then thats the GMs, not SE.

I really don't pay too much attention to what the RMTs on my server do. They are a frustrating lot, but I gave up getting angry about them a long time ago. That's not a particulary great thing, really, but I've just found other ways to make money than trying to camp against them for things.

Obviously, not an ideal solution, but I really just can't afford the stress during my recreation time.

Between this announcement, and the previous one, it still doesn't sound like they're that serious about RMT as a ToS violation in and of itself, but are still going after the low-hanging fruit of gil fabrication via software. These are probably not the gilsellers you see camping NMs for the ultra-valuable drops.

I welcomed the first announcement wholeheartedly, but this one I'm not as sure about. Midgardsormr's economy never quite stabilized after the last massive deflation, no one seems quite sure what things are worth, and it seems as if a lot of the highly valuable stuff has gone up while everything else has plummetted. I used to craft, but profit synths at my craft levels have basically disappeared. Even Poison Potions, which cannot be HQ'd, are selling at a loss these days. Some of this is undoubtedly a matter of the influx of new players (Not that long ago I saw over 100 stacks of Wind Crystals on the Sandy AH, during a massive price crash among mundane-element crystals), but the timing is worrisome.

Best advice at this point is probably to hold on to your wallet, don't make major investments for a few days at least. Hold off on levelling crafts.

Why is it people always have to look at the negative side of it?

SE just banned a huge number of accounts that, by design, were ruining our game. And, in the process, they removed a massive amount of gil from the economy.

Did they get all of the gil sellers? No. That would be practically impossible.

Was this a huge victory for us? Hell yeah.

SE just delivered a huge blow to the RMT companies. It wasn't an end to the war, but it was a strong victory and one that should be welcomed.

Who's looking at the negative side? Yay for SE for taking action. Yay for banning less about a half a dozen or so accounts on each server, and for removing a fair amount of gil out of circulation. I'm all for that.

Realism doesn't necessarily equal negativity.

and further the value of gil will grow and I will become more broke b/c I am carrying next to nothing in my wallet.

Just my luck that I buy a bunch of stuff, RMT measures kick in, loads of gil is deleted, and the prices of my re-sell is a fraction of the price. ; ;

I wouldn't call this a 'huge victory' against gil selling, more like a 'stubbed toe' against gil selling. Sure it hurt and all, but things will be back to normal in no time with very little lasting dmg done. SE is trying though, and I'm sure they're doing their best as the creators love this game just as much as we do. I'm sure they want RMT, botters and hackers gone like all of us. But unless they severely crackdown and go around bustin heads and takin names, it's gonna be a never ending fight. =/

Yay SE, this is a nice hit against RMT, but more important to me is that hopefully all this good experience they are getting with XI will help them make a much better and anti-RMT MMOG in the future.

(I really hope we see XI-2 on PS3/PC/X360 in a few years! )
