They haven't announced when the next update is, but should be sometime within this week or the next since the date of their updates seem to vary between the 10th and 25th. That is if they do an update this month or if it's next month.

Given that they are already releasing developer notes on the update I would take an educated guess and say it's this month.

Well, after the update you can hatch one and start raising it. More you take care of it the more it trusts you and such. Then in a few months when they start doing choco races, yours will be fully grown and like you enough to run well and win. If you waited to raise a choco until the choco racing thing started, then you would miss the first several weeks of the races.

Haven't gone looking but the map and chocobo circuits are suppose to be in the .DAT from the ToA expansion when you installed it. Fits to the nature that SE has progressed this game so I wouldn't be surprised if they are there.

If they did find it they should be able to tell you which .DAT it is so you can swap it in your mog house to take a look. Just be careful if you do that because if you walk around your spacial location is being recorded on the server, not that someone will be looking at that it's mearly that if you switch mog house back and not in right spot you'll be out in limbo. So have warp ready because you really will not want to try and explain to a GM why you were so far outside of your mog house.

And an excellent video. From what I've seen that DOES look like the circuit. Although I do wish there were different tracks.

Here's a pretty simple way to not ruin the economy with it:

When you purchase a chocobo, you get your own, but you have to pay a transportation fee equal to the fee to buy a regular chocobo to ride it. Perhaps they could have a stable fee as well, for recieving your chocobo, that you pay before each time you take it out.

Make it so your chocobo needs a special greens to ride on, have this special greens be sold in the same fashion as regular chocobos: the more people buy it, the more expensive it gets.
