    Re: Mog Lockers (04/05/2006)

These can make me think the following theroies:

If the moglocker will be available at 1st only on ToA areas, this menans that SE is hoping for this new city to serve as a new base? Like jeuno? If this is going to be handy it should be easy to access? Even though i have most outposts and i realy go to bastok. I spent most of my time either in jeuno or tavnazia.

That being said, we also need to consider that most of the storage problems are for endgame players with lots of items and multiple jobs, so maybe, jusgt maybe SE wants endgame uesrs to establish in this new area, and leave jueno for the rest of people?

    Any comments?

I think SE did mention that ToA is to become the new jeuno.
It's very possible that the new zones will be our new altenate levelling ground all the way from 20 to 75. New Qufim, hmm.
I don't think we will leave jeuno entirely tho. But in order for the 2 places to be equally populated, the new ToA will need an easy way to reach.

        ToA is reachable via Mhaura

To be an employee for this salene's w/e it is, do the quest in windurst Woods from the guy by the Fountain

I sepnt an hour running around doing that quest, and got ALL the people listed. It's simple, their locations are located on the back of the "badge" you get from the NPC.

Easy Quest. Gives information regarding ToA. Can be done solo. Get jumping on it :D

Isn't there a quest in all of the cities that are essentially the same thing? I only completed the one for Jeuno.

Yes, you have to do the one in bastok, windy, sandy and jeuno to get all invitation cards. Then iirc, you need to head to mahura!

It's all speculation, there is no proof that that is necesary for anything yet.

Well i guess better be safe then sorry? If it does nothing, well we wasted time lol, if it turns out that then the expansion comes it those key items are for something, then we migt have saved some time. But like people have said, everything is just speculation atm.

                      Re: Mog Lockers (04/05/2006)

I brought up my point of view because according to the OP:
Mog Lockers are one of the special “benefits” of being an employee of the mercenary company Salaheem’s Sentinels.
And iirc, after completing the quest in Windy, I was congradulated by the quest giver (I displayed the badge to everyone in Windy) and made an honorary member of Salaheem's Sentinels. But doing the quests don't hurt. They raise fame in a city, are free, and give you information about the new nation.

You dont need to show them to everyone, it says right on the quest thing the area that the NPCs are that you need to talk to, theres 4-5 per area I think.

they should be able to simply add "mog safe #2" given the fact that the amount of VRAM on PS2 is a primary reason s-e is giving us for not being able to expand the safe beyond 80, as a maximum number displayable at a time.
There is 4 meg of VRAM in the PS2.

PC Kids these days, try using a 16 meg GPU...see what happens when you put a wallpaper.

Consoles are very very delicate and tweaked, where unless you have everything bug tested, lock down, and figured out, it'll blow to heck.

You can find an article on an old tale of making a baseball game on the PS1 with 1 meg of vram. Where they had two interns litterly graph day and night to make sure you don't have pixel collision in the game.

The Devs probably had to sorta "invent the wheel" when spinning out moogle storage, to drill a way out of a old tested engine, and graft on new stuff to allow this.

Same with character data. Drill and graft.

If they had programed ffxi better, it might have made things easier, but that's acedemically speaking. Business world, you hit the ground running, and deal with it later, sad but it keeps managers, accountants, and most of all hyped up paying fans happy.

This game as a strong JP ps2 base, so rule out that possibility!
You do realize that you can use a PS2 controller on the PC version, right? Since you already own a PS2, you can just buy a $10US PSX>USB convertor from Radio Shack. It doesn't support rumble, but it does support everything else, and is very easy to install and use.

Its not really as simple as that. Countless times on games I've worked on, you're told to do one thing which you do. It work perfectly fine then someone (usually some tester with asperations of being a designer) desides that it needs to be done completely differently. Alot of the time what sounds like a relativly small change can actually be something quite major.

The testers/fans don't usually have enough pull to make you change code. The managers on the other hand with often equally less and sometimes even less knowledge like the ideas and do have the power to change you.

I've had my share of, "What's so hard about that, take two guys and it can be done in a day"

Worse part is no one has even have enough balls to ask, where are two extra guys coming from and how much skill level do you get not on the payroll...all this besides not being able to get it done in such a time frame.
