    Re: Job Adjustments

Guys, to those of you who have partied recently with summoners, do you see them doing this over and over.... ? if not let me know

    1. Summon for eample.. Fenrir
    2. Ecliptic Grown
    3. Relesae
    4. SS / Blink
    5. Heal a bit
    6. REst a bit
    7. Summon agian...
    8. Blood pact lets say predator claws (if the mob is not dead yet)
    9. Release
    10. Rest

    Repeat......

    Does that sound familiar?

      Re: Job Adjustments

Ok I made this post a while back, and well since this is the same topic, here's my proposed ideas for Summoner:

The whole point was to keep Avatars out to melee and maybe perform skill chains correct? What if the Avatar's TP was directly corrolated to that? Meaning if for each 10% of TP that our Avatar's are out, they are given -1 to perpetuation?
at 100% tp our pets would have -10 to perpetuation making keeping them out to melee worthwhile. Of course using any Bloodpacts would immediately be like using up 100% tp, but then all the blood pacts would be re-inforced to use that TP to make it more 1) accurate 2) stronger (300% tp Predator Claw ~ 2100 damage on IT)

Of course then, you wouldn't be able to get any MP back save for refresh & ballad songs & refresh items (v. cloak, Yin Yang). Meaning if you have Diabolos out for 300% tp you still would only regen for 1/3 sec while wearing a v. cloak.

Between 0% to 199% tp you would do normal damage with blood pacts, between 200% to 299% tp you would do 2x normal damage with blood pacts, @ 300% tp you do 3x normal damage with blood pacts.

Also, I would like to see our missing blood pacts. i.e. Thunderstorm, Heavenly Strike, Grand Fall. I did some .dat switching and this is what Thunderstorm would look like while farming Ulli

Yes I'm still wearing Austre's gear... T_T. THERE ARE NO OTHER ALTERNATIVES TO SMN GEAR AS WELL, WE NEED ALTERNATIVES THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE CAMPING 21:00 TO 21:15 HOURS FOR A PIECE OF CLOTHING.

How about making the Bar-na spells useful, for one. Then maybe debuffs wouldnt be such a big deal to parties. Barparalyna = worthless against anything with Ice Spikes. How about just giving us Erasga as a spell. Doubel the MP consumption for it, make it 5 times more expensive, whatever, just make it.

And sharing MY HP and MP with party members, no thanks. They get their cures.
AbleepinMen!!! Give me a break, just because they add some special effect to Benediction its going to make people want to pt with us more?? "Oh wow, get a WHM! They do that awesome Erasega every TWO HOURS and that would be sooooooooo beneficial to the pt!!!" Ok SE, time to take your heads out of your butts or stop smoking that crack. Does anyone there even play this game??

And I'm a taru mage, share my HP? OH HELL NO!!! If your inviting me because I can do that, just keep looking bub, cause its not happening!!

I have to laugh! (Not at the poster, at 90% of blms that fit the bill.) Blm's given buffing spells would be insanely hilarious! I've yet to see a blm that uses cure on a consistent basis! Wait, I'm wrong, they do use it on themselves if they might die! But a blm Erase? Hell no! Cure? Hell no! Use a -bar spell? Hell no! When I play whm I notice this BIG time! When I play blm I make sure that I am not one of this type of blm and I'm thanked in EVERY party. So giving the current crop of blms some type of buff spell? Ya they'll use it at first for the cool factor and then just go back to straight nuking like they usually do.

HP sharing could be useful in some situations. Imagine everyone but you is badly hurt from some AoE and the paladin is especially in the red. Give the tank some of your hp to even him out with everyone and get your hp back from the Curaga.

locus already made a good arguement for mp sharing being good.

            WHM:
Not only MP sharing would be good for Paladin, but for other jobs in other parties. I was playing with a Ninja tank, and the MP sharing could be very beneficital to the BLM or RDM when there is no need to do additional curing on the tank.

            WAR:
I think the reason why they want to toss in a axe throwing is so that your forced to BUY more axes from the AH, making it a Consumible good. Or maybe they want to allow weapon shops to sell throwable axes in the shops so that they can use it as another type of gil sink in the game.

              Re: Job Adjustments

Well, the biggest problem is that most people dont understand our summoner needs. I agree with you 100% on the YY robe. I think it is VERY unfair that given our LIMITED asortment of gear, we still have to go through all this pain to get the yinyang robe. I mean, seriously.... What other NM (to my knowledge) is like Shikigami. It is a very unique NM, but why make it harder for summoners. Loook at all the great gear for WHM AND BLM, and it is not that hard to get, sure it is expensive, but YY robe is insane. With all due respect to all aother summoners, there is something that happens on my server.... All of a sudden everyone wants to be a summoner, and it is very discouraging to see a "old school or senior" summoner loose YY robe to a new wanna be level 69 summoner that got the claim. Sure, this is how its supposed to be and i am not complaining about that, but there are many summoenrs on my server who have been summoners forever and yet dont have the robe, and i see all these noobish summonrs wiht it.

I was 1/5 on that mob, between claiming, and drops, and luckly my ls wont clalim 5 times in a row and we were competing against 4 other linkshells at the same time for those 5 days, ok i got the robe... its is very good i wont deny that but another little rant... Why do we have to look like MONKS? Why can they give us a good looking unique gear? Am I alone here guys?

Not only that, the Austere set, is HORRIBLE, but at least it was origina al unique, and to my surprise, i found a BST HAT that now looks the same!!!!! sigh.... The weksit... nothing is like it... the nobles... same thing.... If you look to the FF5 smn job its greenish and yellow, why not make us a nice yellow gear or someting... SE does not like smn i guess.

As for those bloodpacts, wow, Thunderstrorm looks REALLY amazing! Could you be kind enough to post what heavenly strike looks like and metetor if you have time.

Btw, dont worry about your austere.... i used austere for 1.5 years being level 75!!!!!!! and i just got my penace hat a few weeks ago! i am NEVER wearing the smn horn!

This is me... DH how do i make this smaller?

I'll post what the other blood pacts look like when I get home, I was doing a LS event and well was balancing between farming & making photos lol.

I like SMN horn, too bad it doesn't do anything too useful IMO. Can't make the images smaller unless ya got a photo editing software. I'm not sure ffxionline allows you to constrict x and y coordinates to specify size.

I'm in agreement with you, we need more armor for us, but then again, when I think about it, I guess that's what makes SMN's special. I don't see any gil seller summoners. Do you? All of the SMN gear & Summons are difficult to obtain. Evoker's Ring, Y Y Robe, Avatars, Fenrir & Diabolos. I guess we can count that as a blessing that we don't see any SMN gil sellers.

Yes I agree, we are a special breed, but the problem is now that there are many wanna be summoenrs now... I remember when there were a few of us... no everyone wants to be one!

Dumbest thing I've seen all year. Sorry, I meant no offense, but no BLM invites is a bit of an exaggeration, as well all know that BLMs are invited to almost any type of party situations and are desirable in almost every BC, HNM, event, mission, quest -- pretty much everything in this game.

I don't think they're nerfing BLM per se, just changing the way monsters get hit with the nukes and also trying to prevent cheese "ZERG" tactics in every aspect of the game.

If everyone thinks a summoner is limited to curing and bloodpacting every 50 secs. SUCKS as a summoner and has no clue how to play the job.

I consider myself a career Summoner, basically summoner is the job i play as 95% of the time. I think I know Summoning better than most summoners. Thats not being big headed, its being unlimited in what i allow myself to do.
In a Exp situation before ANY avatars were added I got to 50+ as a Summoner with just carbuncle. Im so good with using him I can put others to shame.

Summoners are not gimped until level 70. We are useful every level from 1-75 and fully merited.

As for me I didnt have the issue of not gettign invites because of not having fenrir, I had a good reputation on ramuh so my skill took precedence over my avatar.

Lets take the little green rat for instance.
Most people think carbuncle is useful for...well nothing.

Healing ruby .. Great low cost healing and targeted healing while staying out of main melee.

Poison nails great way for the rat to status a foe and or start or close a renkei.
In BC and during solo fighting and PT situations with a 3rd melee. You have a status inducing skillchain thats MB'able. also cheap.

Shining Ruby is so underutalized its sick. Think of a BC situation where the first provoke or so can make the difference. Ive used this as a boost to tank defense and it works wonders durign the crucial first few seconds.

Glittering Ruby I must say is rather bland in its randomness. Where as fenrirs power is better suited.

Level 55.. Petit meteor ^^ lovely. GREAT to MB and cheap also Healing ruby is good to use to handle links, MB, gain hate and you can keep rat in the fray to gain some TP.

65 is where carbuncle gains immortality.. With healign ruby II he can AOE heal himself and others. This makes the lil fellow near indestructable. In a PT situation this and Petit meteor make him EXTREMELY useful.. and if you have the right gear free.
With healing ruby II, which can be boosted by the amount of TP gained, Hes much more effective than the Summoner/whm-rdm, that summoned him. By being inthe heart of the fight he can MB, Skillchain start/end, and Point Blank curaga1-2 with NO hate gained to him or you. and say you are fighting goblins or some such with nasty Aoes, this makes you the resident squishy..less squishy.

Non BP roles are pulling and aggro management.

As a summoner with the free rat. You can fetch a monster while your melees kill off the last one, and rat can take a beating until melees are ready to begin. by taking a beating he gains TP which can heal the melees with no risk.

Carbuncle being free means that in emergency situations where you hav elitle to no MP means it takes 5 MP to resummon him if you have the time.

You can do alot as a Summoner with EACH avatar, people tend to thinkin a pack mind. and the pack says a summoner can only do ...this..

                          I say differently.

Now... you just mention carby and everything he can do. What if you need a heal and you are unable to do the blood pact of Healing Ruby II given the timer? Do you use carby most of the time? What about the rest of the avatars?

Do you think rolling thunder is useful?
What do you say about ifrits warcray effent?
                            Thunder spark etc?

Do you find Carby's melee worthwhile? I haven't played smn yet so I have no idea what kind of numbers the little guy puts out. Even in the case that a mage is capable of doing their job while meleeing, most people advise to stay back to keep the mob from gaining tp. Does that apply to carby?

                              Do you melee alongside carby?

Well, from my experiences, I don't see blms cure ever. I've been in pts where I ran out of mp, the rdm was out of mp, the pld was out of mp, but the blm had 200 and mp and instead of keeping the tank alive they just kept nuking.
