I'd just like to mention that, about around the time COP first came out I had been talking to a GM and mentioned wishing there was a Chocobo Raising/Racing System like in FF7. Looks like words don't fall on deaf ears when your messing with SE.

And I'd just like to mention that people had been bitching for it since before the game even came out in Japan, so...yea, I agree, but there seems to be a 4 year lag.

There's no doubt that Pheonix will be added eventually, it's just that it's severely unplausible he will be the NEXT summon added. And the CoP storyline backs up that idea by tieing Pheonix directly to Tenzen and the spreading of the emptiness in his homeland, which this expansion as of yet seems to be ignoring.

Will Pheonix be added as a Summon in the future? Highly possible, almost definate

Will he be the next summon added in this expansion? Probably not, I doubt he'll leven appear in it.

Because Tenzen's home is in the Far east, this expansion deals with the new kingdom in the near east with an all new threat to that kingdom. They said that Taou will have a small story line and I don't think they'll use characters from CoP in it if it's not going to be the main feature. Nothing announced about this expansion shows any link to the Far east, the emptiness, Tenzen or Pheonix and SE already said this will be an all new story line anyway.

SE will probably release content involving the far east in later expansions but I doubt they'll do it now.

its really simple
Chains of Promathia actually began 4 years ago....

When you first log onto FFXI, you see the fall of Tavnazia and the emergence of Aldo.

2002
Nation missions..M1-Shadowlord focuses on the nations historry and the shadowlords rise to power.

1 year later
We meet Lion in Norg and witness the "return" of the ancient races.

Nation Missions deal with the return of the ancients and the future evolution of each nation. Promathia is fomally mentioned and we get to "see" him and Altana, and the goddess Ugalepih.
The shadowlord"raogrimm" has a special task for you.

2 years later
Lion does something in Tulia , that ripples back to Delkfutts.
The keeper is awakening.
Bahamut returns and seeks to stop the return of Promathia.
The true nature of the Ancients is revealed and so is promathias true history.
Tavnazia is rediscovered and trade begins with it from Jeuno.
Tenzen is displeased with jeunos actions and receives a message of war from home.
Promathia is defeated and the true fate of Lion is learned as the ancients return for 1 final battle.

3 years later
The path to the far East is opening as mercenaries from the near East come to the Central vana'dielian continents.

4 years later
the far east may be revealed.. we dun know yet.

5 years later
The Western lands "mentioned during promathia" May be introduced.

They're not dropping the plot, they're just putting it on the side burner for now. As mentioned before the CoP storyline started when the game itself was launched. Tavnazia is the first thing you ever see in this game yet you couldn't access it until a year ago. And SE has been mentioning the 'far east', a land of east asian like culture, for as long as I've been playing yet the continent they are releasing in this expansion is known as the 'near east' and neighbors the 'far east'. SE already said they wanted this expansion to be more action and content and less focus on the story, so I doubt they'll want to create a major link to a pre-existing, unfinished story they already released.

And I know Toau is called the 'near east' because that's how it's referenced many times through both official sites and in game text. It was also said that the land of Aht Urgan borders the 'far east'. There's also the fact that none of the shown expansion content resembles anything even close to being japanese or chinese, yet many things in the game which state they come from the 'far east' are.

It's true much more will follow, just most likely not in this expansion. There are a lot of places mentioned both in game and on official sites that have not yet been released, but will be in the future. SE plans these things out LONG before they're announced or even mentioned to anyone. I'm sure Tenzen and hs story will be continued in the future, but for now they're going a different route.
