    300billion accross 15servers is it? each with around 4ooo people on them isnt much. Hope it doesnt drop too much cause then all the high lv players will loose out on stuff theyve bought already for high prices. We shouldnt be punished for being able to keep our heads up in the highly inflated economy.

        Yeah... duping isn't a good idea. They can track you easier than anything when they find two items that have the same ID.

        As for hacks, they're pretty safe to use right now.
        If you get caugh using 'em once, you get suspended for 72 hours.

        If you get caught the second time, it's a ban.

        So, basically, feel free to use 'em till you get caught doing it.

            I'll believe it when I see it. When they supposedly deleted something like 800 account a year or two ago for the same reasons, the main gil sellers were still around. The Apples on Alexander, which are the most predominant group of gilsellers, have always been around. If I login tonight and they're still around, I'll end up chocking this up to SE still blowing smoke up our asses as usual. BUT, if they are gone, MAD props to SE. We'll see what happens.

              it wasn't the same reason then, they banned accounts then for MPK associated with NM and HNM camping. This time they are banning for "using illicit methods to produce large amounts of gil" 2 different reasons. Illicit methods are most likely, duping, using a hack or taking advantage of a flaw in the game(exploit). Therefore many of the NM camping RMTs will still be there the next time you log in.

                That still means they haven't even come close to resolving the situation they're stating they've taken care of.

                And actually, the 800 accounts banned before we're for both MPKing and NM monopolization/gilselling.

                  It's a step in the right direction, it is nothing more than that. A single battle in what has been a long hard war. Basically FFXI is under siege, what SE did was wipe out the attacks who had infiltrated the walls. There are still countless enemies out camping NMs 24/7, it is a battle of attrition, who can last the longest.

                        I think that SE is doing what they can in the most legal and certain way possible. They probably take into account dozens of complaints against certain people, monitor these people, research their activities etc before they can be certain that this is indeed a RMT and then ban them. Last thing SE wants is some stupid lawsuit b/c they banned someone and then can't prove they are right. I know last time they banned people I DID notice the differance on Bismark, however I also know that they DID "miss" some obvious people too (Tom's for example). This is a nice choice of action on SE's part but if people are expecting it to be the "save all, end all" then they are sadly mistaken

                          Im just glad to see that they have started to actually make this an important issue and are taking care of the problem. It may not make a huge difference at first but if they keep at it, who knows? Maybe everyone can stop bitching about farming.

                            I see the big picture, and I am pleased.

                            SE made this annoucement to dictate what they ARE doing to try to manage to push down the enconmy. They diddent state they wont take further action.

                            I've noticed that the majority of the gusgen mines gilsellers on my server are gone. They did not move, they were permabanned. (Of course then the price for darksteel skyrocketed cause no one noticed they were gone till everyone ran out of darksteel...) This means that they are not ONLY attacking the mule accoutns that are holding gil, but some of their gathering recorce gilsellers as well.

                            When you run into people who are potentially gilsellers, you cant just take someone elses word for it. SE has to walk a fine line. When they bann someone for breaking the TOS, they have to be able to back it up in court. This means hard evidence that the account is gilseller tactics.

                            SE diddent anticpate such a delema when they created the game, so their player tracking abilities are rather limited. Couple the fact that there are approximatly 60 NA GMs (and thats a high guess) spread accorst 35 servers.


                            In the small Picture SE's actions are a good blow to the Gillseller/buyer economy. (You can expect the gil rates to rise) in the larger picture this is just a milestone in a much more drawn out war.

                              I would have to disagree on the basis of experimentation. Perhaps they did not think things would get as bad as they did, while they expected something would happen they would like to see how things go first as to know what/how/who to target.

                              Btw, what is duping? I've no idea.

                              As for the big/small picture thing, I would have to wait to see the results myself.

                                Thats a bit of a presumption.

                                You dont know if the amount removed from each server was 50 million. The amount could have varied from server to server.


                                And I am not talking to just one person when I say this... be grateful instead of starting the *Why didnt they... they could have... they should have... or is that all they did?* The point is they took 300 billion out of RMT hands and banned 700 accounts... thats more than they have done in months. Considering the consistant point view (and mine too) has been they wont do anything about it.
