  • Visual Clarity: Enchanted Items




    The number of charges left on an enchanted item will display differently in the item description window after the February version update.

    The FINAL FANTASY XI development team is continually examining measures to improve the clarity of the game's visuals, and is aware that some players buy enchanted items from bazaars without realizing how many charges are left on the item. Listening to the concerns of the players, we have decided to improve the way the number of charges left on enchanted items is displayed.

    The next version update will introduce the following changes to number displays in the dispensing/enchanted items description window.

    The color of the number of charges, the counter, recast time, and equip delay will change in the following manner.

    Blue = The item is fully charged.
    White = The item has been used (not fully charged, but some charges are left).
    Red = No charges are left on the item.

    These changes were decided based on comments received from a Japanese Premier Community site. We will continue to make announcements regarding updates and player feedback using the "Topics" section on the FINAL FANTASY XI main page and our Premier sites from around the world.

    If the ducks cant swim, cover all the ponds.
    If the tiger cant run, criple all the prey.
    If the clown cant laugh, draw a smile on his face.
    If the wheel cant turn, make the floor slippery.

    How about addressing real issues square? if people arent paying attention to what theyre buying, dont waste your time making it easier on them, there's such a thing as common sense.

      it`s maybe more helpful for new players who can see whats up with the item.

      another thing, it saves some seconds on watching every item with enchantment

        Its also hardly any additional coding, and there for isn't a "waste" of time per se, since the time is negligable. It was probably one of those "Hey, some guy in a place called Iowa came up with this idea I can add to the game in like, fifteen min." sorta situations.

            Just because its in blue now wont mean the new players will know what it does. Took me ages to figure out all that charge crap. Pointless.

              How hard is it, for a 5 year old, to tell that 5/10 means there's _5_ things, inside a box that could contain _10_?

              Bah, sure, it might be "helpful", that's not the point, the point is that there are things that i think are more important to fix.

              Notice that only the major updates get displayed on the site while theyre preparing the version up? If this is one of the "major updates", then i can see this as one of those out-of-the-ass version ups. However im excited about the alchemy changes.. :x

                Yeah, it's a nifty little feature but one I could live without. Part of people getting suckered because they are to freaking lazy to pay attention is their own problem, not something SE really needs to fix.

                The feature litteraly is only like 5 min. to make all you do is a simple if then or case statement.

                If chargeMax = chargeCur then <command to set section blue>
                If chargeMax <> chargeCur And chargeCur > 0 then <command to set white>
                If chargeCur = 0 then <command to set red>

                There you are done, quick and easy. I'm sure there's other ways you can do it were it doesn't draw so much processing functions out of the CPU but point was that you can do this mind numbingly easy. Hell you can take out the set white section by having that as default then it is only checking those other two conditions.

                  what they should really be concentrating on, instead of these trivial things, is to fix their code so the warp and speed hacks don't work.

                      OMG i didn't know I was paying 5M gil at AH instead of 500k, i only confirmed it 2x!

                      SE needs to make my money value red if i'm paying too much!

                      if someone gets "suckered" because they weren't paying attention, it's thier fault.

                      one time i was mass buying stacks of boyada moss, I accidentialy nudged it and bought a single at stack price. is the SE's fault? No, I was in a hurry and I wasn't paying enough attention. should SE take 1 second of thier time to make it easy for those too much in a hurry for thier own good? Of course not, because when I'm bulk buying, I'm more careful now.

                      while this "fix" will only take 5-15 min, it's still 5-15 min from fixing something else that could have been part of this update.

                      amother thing, if you don't know what 1/30, 0/30, 15/30 or 30/30 means, don't buy the bloody item! ask an LS member, /tell the person... something. sheesh.
