In Japan, there is no Core system. All systems sold are the "Premium" system if you will. And for much less than in North America. ~$315. And the Beta comes with it. And they have them in stock...

The Japanese are incredibly lucky. *blinks* While we have our mysterious "shortage" of XBox 360s, they can easily buy those things...

i heard this on the news today:

some kids bought an xbox360 and while they were eating at a reastraunt, the guy that was watching the games was held up by armed robbers.

some kids bought an xbox360 and while they were eating at a reastraunt, the guy that was watching the games was held up by armed robbers.

i was so scared about something like that when i was walking otta the store with mine.. lol... many angry people..

Got my 360 on launch nite here in England and I have to admit (tho maybe it was slightly to do with sleep deprevation!) that I was a bit paranoid about getting mugged with the box after hearing some horror stories from the US launch.

Looking forward to the beta too - and eventual full game - as I'd love to play an mmo on my tele rather than being stuck here in front of the monitor!

In Japan, a Hentai game outsold Xbox360 on its release. They havn't sold half yet.

When I went at midnight to pick mine up on release day, I was a bit concerned and took my son along. (I really didn't have to pressure him too much....gee I wonder why......LOL) It was nice in the mall the way they had it set up. You had to have your preorder slip ready to show them or you were immediately escorted out of the mall by security. You could bring one guest in with you but that was it. You stood in a line outside the store and they would let 2 people at a time go into the store to pick out accessories and pay for the accessories and the system in full. (This was before midnight and they couldn't give you the actual system until then.)

Then you went back outside the store where they had a nice setup with free pizza and soda. Just before midnight they came out and lined everyone up according to the number they issued you when you paid for everything. One by one each person was let in the store, receipt was checked and stamped and your system was handed to you.

So the mall was smooth as silk but when we got to the doors to the parking lot, there were several people hanging around outside. I stopped my son and told him that he shouldn't try to fight anyone if they tried to take it. Our lives were more important than a replaceable system. A guy outside said that he would walk us to our car if we weren't comfortable. Ummm ya and what makes you think we should be comfortable with you walking us to our car?? LOL Just then a security van for the mall pulled up and my son and I made a dash for the car. Then we went over to Best Buy and talked with the people camping in tents there for the store to open....poor frozen people!

I have a 360 and can't wait to get the beta. I played FFXI a while ago but had to stop due to personal reasons. FFXI on the 360 has sparked my intrest in the game again.

The UK magazine has been delayed by a week sadly, but I'll post again when I have my character up and running (and dieing a lot as usual - hehe!)

Final Fantasy XI is hitting the Xbox 360 sometime much later this year, but Square Enix has already opened the flood gates for beta testing the game.

To sign up, hit the link and follow the relatively confusing instructions. Once you get the beta code you’ll need to go get a copy of the February issue of the Official Xbox Magazine for the demo disc.

that's an impressive feats to do. I congrats you on that. SE hasn't annouce if we will be able to keep our toon from beta when we go retail.
