I agree with Dark...much better than doing it manually. The least they can do is put an HQ Version for PC with all expansions. I'd pay $50 for it.

I think you guys are taking the enhanced visuals a little too seriously. We all knew about the extended draw distance that's supposed to be in the xbox 360 version of FFXI. But I already remember reading in an interview that FFXI on PC WILL receive a simular upgrade. They did say that the PC requirements will be greater for this though.

Besides that though, FFXI isn't going to look that vastly superior. It's going to basically be the PC version, at it's best. It's enhanced for those who have been stuck with the PS2 version, that's for sure. However, people who have FFXI on a really high end PC, and already take the game to it's best possible settings, are already basically experiencing what you should expect in the xbox 360 version.

This is exciting for me, because my PC sucks, got a slow processor, and out of date video card. I've typically played FFXI on ps2 also, because i'm using a crappy small monitor, and prefer playing the game on my HDTV. Xbox 360 is gonna be a great convience for me, cause I'll get the great visuals and performance of the PC version on my hdtv finally, and I can say bye-bye to low res PS2 version.

I translated the Q & A about the beta from the japanese site, and from what I gathered, it looks like it's a seperate server for the beta, and that all beta people, US, UK, and japan will share the same server during the time frame. At least 360 people will get a chance to see what it's like playing with foreign folks lol. Didn't have that problem during the PC and PS2 beta for the US.

I'm assuming this beta will be handled much like the PC and PS2 beta was, in terms of how it'll perform.

Beta is beta. Any and all data made in beta will not transfer to the retail servers, which is pretty much common sense. Beta players will be on a standalone server and I believe there is no way you can get a WPS (It will most likely be disabled on that server) to prevent existing retail players from getting in.

I have the Japanese beta right now. I do not have an HDTV setup, so I cannot compare graphics quality vs. high-end PC, but as for worlds and characters, it is a beta server. It's called Hydra. It is for the Xbox 360 Beta only and you cannot use current characters with your Xbox 360, or vice versa. I have not tried the world passes either way, but I can confirm that it runs very smoothly and with no glitches so far.

With a USB keyboard, it basically runs the same as the PC version with the option to use the controller if desired. It appears that the communicator does not work with the game, but this was to be expected.

Total Speculation: There could be some code for the new expansion in there as well, but that is highly unlikely. Even if there was, I don't think anyone knows how to unlock any of it.

Keep in mind that the 360 Beta of FFXI will be for those lucky sould who have the Premium system only...

.......since the HDD is required.

Well, if you Core players have the HDD then lucky you!

Oh, and I don't have a 360-- Don't see a reason to get one quite yet, if not at all.

In Japan, there is no Core system. All systems sold are the "Premium" system if you will. And for much less than in North America. ~$315. And the Beta comes with it. And they have them in stock...

As for ability of people to hack files, I make no claims about peoples' abilities to hack XBox 360 disks.

It is beyond me and I have no idea what that would entail. If that were the case perhaps it could be hacked to allow connection to a "production" world.

With the beta, you have to have a PlayOnline account, but the content ID for the XBox 360 version is free and comes with two free characters. This is obviously because it is a beta. If World passes worked, then it would mean two free characters that someone could use for whatever they wanted, at least for the duration of the beta period, which is another reason why it probably will not work.
