Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
The problem with Time Mage, Dancer and Oracle is that their abilities are already spread in the other jobs. They wont be adding anything, just using the same abilities and spells that other jobs have too.
Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
In Final Fantasy 5, Dancer was an adaquate damage dealing class ontop of support abilities. In no way does is it really overshadowed by bard except in the termes used from Final Fantasy Tactics. If FFXI contiues on the trend it has been, refrencing more form the older titles rather than the newer, expect dancer to be a melee type class that inflicts status effects with damage depending on what 'dance' they are using. (I remember sword dance beign a rather powerful attack, though not controlable)
That is, if it is releaced.
I agree about time mage and oracle, as they would severily hamper white and red mage together, however SE did regnize the fact that gamers want more refresh classes, so somthing similar may come into effect anyways. (I feel very sad if there is a new refresh class and rdm dosent get another update to help them keep parties >.>;; )
Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
SMN giving a weak 1 or 2 MP refreshing BP would be nice ;o. Anyway, my money is on Blue Mage, something like TG Cid(which I don't think would help melees any), and Geomancer.
I think SE saw this thread and added my idea for chocobo knight Enfuse Ability to the dragoon hahaha.. im not that big headed..no really im not..seriously...
Blue Mage: well, they're already adding it ^^b
Time Mage: I agree with the others, basically it would be a rdm with some new spells.
Dancer: Now this is actually viable, seeing as how there are many different ways they could add it. It could be DD and/or Support, similar to Smn.
Chocobo Knight: oh wow, I wish they would add this, I'd be all over it lol, first one to 75 on that job. XD
Yay, Ty for this Eohmer~
Silentsteel - Taru of Awesomeness on Valefor
80 Whm, 86 Drg, 40 Sam, 37 Blm, 31 Smn, & lower as it goes down... I have way too much play time for no levels, lol.
Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
Dancer would be cool if it was like this
Oh yeah. Chapelle's attack increased by 10%!
Serious side though, chemist seems to be a viable job.
[Taken from official web]
Lamia
bewitching race of beastmen with an upper body like that of a Hume woman and a lower body resembling that of a venomous serpent.
The Lamiae are few in number compared to the other beastmen inhabitants of the Near East. However, they have ensorceled the bones of fallen soldiers, creating an undead army of considerable size to defend their reef settlements.
Lamiae are known to sneak into towns in the depths of night, wielding powerful bows and hunting humans to replenish their armies; hence the Near Easterners' dread of sunset.
According to rumor, Lamiae are not technically a race of beastmen, but actually a form of organic weapon (also known as a chimera), created by alchemists fusing the parts of multiple organisms.
Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
I could see dancer working as a DD/support hybrid. But adding a dancer class to a game that's gone three years without a proper /dance emote is sorta ridiculous.

Kinda irrelevant since they already have 8.5 jobs whose role is "hurt things".
Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
Actually if you'll remember, this game has had a Necromancer-like job in it since the original release. Or have you all not been attacked by Pirates on the ferry recently? I agree they aren't going to call it Necromancer, but it's not like the series doesn't already have the job in play somewhere.
I have a really good idea where that job will get put into game though, and I'm staying well clear of Norg when the release goes live. I already get too many: {Excuse me...} {Help me out!} {Teleport: Mea} PLZ!!!!! /tells whenever I visit the place from newbies who forgot to bring a warp scroll along when they flagged NIN or SAM.
Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
Tiny bit o FFXII spoilers....
Anyway, they split up the magic into a bunch of groups in that game. Just makes me think.
Geomancer and Chemist seem the most likely to me right now. But the mentioning of the middle eastern stuff with reguards to sorcerer makes sense too, except that Red Mage kinda has that goin' on already.
Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
Red mage has a weak form of sword magic, the same way we have a weak form of cures and a weak form of nukes.
FFV sword mages could not only add higher level elemental spells to their attack, but also Silence, Poison, Sleep, Virus (=FFXI Bio), Drain, Aspir, Break, Holy and Flare. I doubt if we'll see Enbreak and probably not Enholy or Enflare. The others all seem reasonable, plus possibly Endia, Enparalyze, Enslow, Enblind, maybe Engravity, Enbind and Enstun.
En-status spells were mainly useful for hitting a group of enemies once each, though, which doesn't translate well to FFXI; or for getting around resist rates (enbreak vs. Odin for example). So I don't know how well they would actually translate over, aside from Endrain and Enaspir which would obviously be useful. Maybe if they casting times were really short like Ni ninjutsu, you could switch as soon as it went off... would need low mp costs, too. And it seems like a sword mage would most likely end up as yet another physical attacker (although part of their damage is magic and thus ignores defense, they would still have to hit which includes being inside melee range).
I'd guess A sword, greatsword and enhancing magic, maybe B parry, C or lower evasion and shield; mana pool similar to PLD or DRK, few or no JAs of its own aside from the 2hr. Equipment selection probably similar to PLD, DRK or WAR (I think they could wear heavy armor in FFV), including most/all swords currently available to more than one job. The first en spells would probably be a little lower level than they are for RDM, and then they just keep getting new ones as they level. Possibly endrain around 30, enaspir around 40 so it can't be subbed. I hope they would be able to keep one damage (elemental) and one status en-spell at a time - even though this wasn't possible in FFV, I think they'd need it to compete in FFXI. 1h swords are generally weak and you don't get much out of your enspell with a greatsword's delay, and having to rest for MP would be another weakness compared to other physical DD.
But that's just speculation - SE could implement something quite a bit different or not put in sword mages at all.
Re: Exclusive Website for Treasures of Aht Urhgan!
I'm gonna have a slight guess but i think the jobs would most probably be...
Blue Mage (cause it's already up)
Beserker
Mystic or Magic Knigh (Sorcerer)
and if theres a fourth space then i would mind seeing necromancer... be a change really... but i suppose it would be Geomancer
As for Summons...
Diablo (i heard from someone he was coming...)
Typhon (come on the guy's gotta come along some time)
Odin (Wouldn't be FF without him)
and maybe with enough room... Bahamut... (I wish anyway)
or they'll create a new one like METEOR MASTER... lol
If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?
