I'm pretty sure that the latent effect on the Treat staff only activates once.
I've tried using it under loads of conditions, including low HP, and it has never activated. The one and only time it did activate, though, I was just hitting Lizards outside of Bastok with it.

otherwise you trade a certain treat to an npc and they slap a costume on you. if you only get movement bonus w/ these costumes, hence the disappointment.

in costume you cannot interact w/ anything and it cancels if you zone, so in regards to muling or just simply moving about home city, you're still better off w/ aketon.
Aketon increases your movement speed by 12%, though. That's barely even noticeable.

Because we can look at all the information from the last update and put two and two together.

Has to be, last update the put in the Pitchfork. A little give away is that just about the only items that are lv. 1 and Rare/EX are event items. Then on top of that just the logic to it holloween event what lv. 1 just introduced is likely to be in the event pitchfork is best suited. I'm kind of intrested in getting a pitchfork.

          I hope this christmas will still have the christmas hats, I missed out last year on them and would of liked to have that ; ;

Honestly, though, this event seems kinda weak.
It's like SE is burning out. Last year, we had about 8 items (including HQs) for Halloween.
And if there's only one addition this year, it isn't much to look forward to for most FFXI players, who have been around for a while now. Not only that, but I think of event items earned in previous years as trophies, and seeing other players obtain them years later seems a bit unfair to me.

Actually last year was only 4 additions (2 if you exclude HQ), the year before that they added 4 additions (2 again if you exclude HQ), so it isn't like they drifted that far from their normal of 2-4 items (1-2 if you exlude HQ).

Nah, people buy it for status/looks/crystals. I should know... that's why I bought mine. Then, of course, the majority of people get theirs with CP. I can tell you from running around in an Aketon often, though, that the increase in speed really isn't noticeable- you might get where you're going 2-10 seconds faster, at most. (Depending on the distance, of course.) But when you put an Aketon on, you'll find that you catch up to characters ahead of you at an incredibly slow pace.

On another note, upon further examination of that screenshot, it looks like they might reintroduce the pumpkin heads that fully cover your head; it's what that Galka BST is wearing.

I would guess 'no' b/c with the worm belt one cant move while its in use. This would prove unfair to those with that item only. Unless of couse the item only needs to be equipped /shrug

ok moogles are up and news is coming in that ppl are getting pitchforks.

                            apparently the method is:
                            find partner
both get into a (different) costume (by trading Sweets to NPCs)
                            walk under a ballon decoration

Errr....I don't think it would work too well with the worm belt.
