  • Experience Point Bonus Items!

    Quoted from the official website.

"In October's version update, a new type of item will be introduced that will give a bonus to the amount of experience or limit points earned. These items will provide a bonus until a set period of time has passed or certain conditions are met."

    More info.

"These items are designed to help those who wish to earn a little extra experience from defeating easy opponents, rather than for use in extended party play. The bonus points provided by these new additions may not be noticeable at first, but taking advantage of the bonus every day will eventually make a substantial difference. The new items will be available through the exchange of conquest points, making them accessible to a wide range of players. Talk to your nearest conquest guard after the version update and see how this adventuring accessory can help you!"

    Here's the link. http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/information/0930.html

Personally I'm wondering if they're finally gonna try and make this game more solo friendly, but still endorse grouping more then soloing. In anycase this seems to be an interesting update. Now they just need to announce the date this patch will be implemented.

      ohh this sounds very interesting.

i hope they don't make it lame like the NPCs (initially) and have the bonus go away in a few minutes.

Well should give it a benefit of the doubt first. If it is a 20 hr reuse and lasts say 45 min. but in return gives maybe +30% EXP then it can be quite significant over time. I mean in an EXP party getting 170-240 for just a normal kill (no chain) then it'll be 221-312 EXP in a 45 min. span killing about 15 monsters then normal would be around 2,550-3,600 and the EXP bonus would be 3,315-4,680.

Enough that the bonus may be extreemly noticable but enough to make any almost 1hr session of killing VT-IT almost as good as going for a stream of IT-IT+. That isn't considering chains mostly because it's even harder to predictic how the item would act with those.

I say its good that its in a period of time, if its actually noticable of how much exp you gain and you can do it indefinetly, the party system might not be upheld like it should. So i just think its good not to get bummed out before even trying this out and remember FFXI should stick to its roots as a party game.

Man that would be really useful for low level partys 10-30 because they will meet the level within that 45 min. I hope it will turn out as good as it seems.

It sounds to me like it will only take effect on EP-DC mobs. That it would be like the xp bonus they gave on those a while back. I think its more for making limited soloability a little better rather than making a crappy party better. Besides, if not everyone has one, then it would be possible to all within a good lvl range, but suddenly someone is lvling faster and leaves the party in the dust.
This could be cool, but considering I'm ranger and my soloability pretty well sucks w/o dropping mucho gil on sleep bolts and bloody's so I probably wont be able to take quite as much advantage of it as others. This could be big for BST though, especially soloing BST. Could make it better xp for them to just kill lots of EP-DC's rather than grinding out VT's all the time.

Careful I didn't say that is how it is. That's just a Theory I saw as a probable possibility.

Intresting I didn't notice it said that the first time reading through it. Definatly change to the theory then, still depending on it's level limit use it could help shoot through 1-10 extreemly easy.

On the other hand just thinking about it, there is another possibility. Say the item gives you a chance to gain EXP off of Too Weak monsters . If that is the case then I'm not sure how good it would really be. I know EP can give you as little as like 8 EXP solo, so if it allows Too Weaks to give you EXP then how much would that be like 4 EXP a kill?

                    Re: Experience Point Bonus Items!

It's just a little extra, as quoted. It's not going to effect most people, just something to chew a bit. As mentioned it uses CP points, to get the item, so not everyone should be using it, as CP is very important in all stages of the game, once you see what it can be used for.

it's not going to let you solo, just a little extra. Don't jump in one camp or the other because likely it's not chang things much.

I'm not sure but as a soloing Drg/mage my xp dropped off alot when they changed the way mobs conn and the amount of xp gained. I went from soloing dc's in chains to now sticking to ep's in order to make up the difference as much as i could , but it just doesn't compare. Hopefully this/these new items can make it better for me.........Also do you think this may push more people to be Bst?

I doubt it would benefit BST that much if it's for easier mobs. I rarely go after anything below EM (usually T to even an ocasional IT depending on what I'm fighting). I can't see how a little extra XP from EP would be useful when i can take out Ts at a decent enough pace that I'd probably get better xp from that than using an item on EP.
