I'm happy for everyone enjoying the blue mage with his new Spider Web which is AOE and will prolly kill him in an instant :p
Also that flame used by many mobs eg Raptors which also is aoe which will also utterly destroy him I seiously hope they removed the AOE effect...

Other then that I am not interested in blue mage at all as long as he can't use any of the following:
Meteor, Death, Doom or Petrify.

However if they could announce new abilities to the old avatars and new avatars I would probably get an orgasm...

Well the Spider Web obvious will be one to use with caution. Like I've seen a BLM I party with often, he's quite skilled at knowing his -ga spells range and if he able or not to do them. I can't really recall a time that he timed it bad and got himself killed or the party killed. As for the Flame Breath it isn't exactly an AoE like Spider Web, it's more of a funnel type (Which is the same that the wyverns use) and likely ness of getting an unwanted extra with them is if you're dumb enough to use without looking at your line of sight to see if it'll hit another.

Outside of that an AoE slow and an AoE stun effect (Yaguda Spin Kick, or Orcs special) could come in very handy in the BCNM matches.

I've been saying BUM to my LS's chagrin. ^^ Since, BLM is taken, the other Mage jobs have M, and M means Mage. So, BlUe Mage ^^

Hopefully, this expansion will involve those pirates that can summon undead. And maybe we'll finally be able to go thru those inaccessible areas in Tenshodo and Norg.

Thats what I was thinking. Seeing the pirate ship n all.. and the new ship to lead to the area aslwell. This will be interesting indeed.

I doubt a Geomancer would be a Tank job. FF11 keeps to the tradition of FFTactics... and a Geomancer in that game was categorized as a Mage. And since Blue Mage has been confirmed... I would say Blue Mage is the Mage Job... Geomancer is the Refresh Job... but that leaves the Tank Job open.

Geomancer has never really been strictly a mage. They attacked fairly well, especially in Tactics.

Geomancer would definitely work as a tank in FFXI, if they were tweaked some. Elemental shields, perhaps?

Geomancer in FFT was a pretty decent attacker, and a pretty cheap kiter. Long range spells with no mp cost and status enfeebles would let a PT full of them kite mobs for low damage, but take none.

Was armed with axe, sword, and shield, a decent amount of HP, but only mediocre armor (better than mage at least). Their only real downfall is that they never did enough damage quickly enough. With some moderate changes it makes sense to be a mage-like tank class with its own enfeebles/buffs, taking the rdm abilities a bit further.

But hey, it's not like sam in ffxi is anything like sam in fft.

man i havent even gotten CoP and now theres a new one coming out!
i guess im going to have to get CoP sometime soon.
i also really hope that there is something besides the Blue Mage, not that
i dont like it, its just one addition for a new expansion that doesnt seem
worth much...then again the new areas do seem to be worth it.

I read a rumour somewhere about a kinght or something like that.... dunno if it's true but it could be the new tank class apparently specialising in "break" type moves. Not sure whether it is true or what these moves do exactly but just thought i'd shar d:

Ya, I heard Geomancer would be the new tank, who would create certain barriers in order to reduce damage done to him. But I know there will be no class simply called Knight....Paladin in Japanese is ナイト which when you pronounce it, is Knight.
