you know what I think that is for? the only way to be able to become a jeunoan. . . & its ex/rare & you can only get it by getting rnk 10 for the third time =P
That sorta sounds cool.. but then again after seeing ZM1 cutscene and stuff... I was like F Jeuno!
@.@ I hate this event. The buffalo warps you after it hits you a few times, it warps you either to you HP or some other random place. It's hp is high and it requires alot of damage, teams of ppl have to work on it because no one can solo it you'll get warped before you can even try that. LOL i just stood around until i knew one holy could it. Got the Red Sash but I'm wonder how to get the other sash. After the Toro (it's name) dies a ??? appears, after the body disappears the ??? goes too.
I tried it out last night as well, I actually found it pretty fun. Just very very hard to finish. Here's some of what I've learned:
1. The buffalo will aggro whoever did the most damage and is still on the playing field, just like a normal mob. (Obviously, warped players are no longer on the playing field and drop off this list).
2. Damage is randomized to some extent. (I've seen a BLM hit the buffalo with Freeze for a measley 50 dmg). With Battle staff, I'm doing anywhere from 50-140 dmg a swing, and there are newbies who do about that much as well.
3. How to avoid getting warped, (Easier said than done):
<EDIT> Ok, what I said before about it hitting you square in the back, yeah, that's complete crap, I just tested it out. Here's the real deal, the buffalo has an aggro trigger based on dmg... if you do low enough dmg, he can't warp you because you aren't building aggro up fast enough before you start dropping off the bottom of the list. For instance, I could kite Toro from the bottom of Rolanberry to the zoneline w/o being warped, getting hit over 40 times. Carby's beating on him, but he's doing 14-16 dmg, and not fast enough to trigger a warp on me. So, if you want to be warp-immune, try using something low dmg, like say an onion weap... something that hits hard enough to do dmg to it, but not hard enough to get you warped.
4. To get your sashes, all you do is wait for the buffalo to die, then spam F8 to target the ??? near the corpse's head and click. If you do this on a Toro death, you get the NQ version of the sash. If you do this on the death of the other one, Miura, you get the HQ version. HQ may also require wearing the NQ at the time, I don't have mine just yet.
5. Miura seems to be easier to find around Jeuno. I know running around South Gustaberg last night all I managed to pick up on track were Toros.
6. Sub RNG if you can, even at lvl 1 it makes finding these things drastically simpler.
7. Cooperate with everyone else out there if you can and don't be afraid to shout out mob positions to the zone. This is not a locked kill, once he dies anyone out there can get a sash, so you want to have as large a horde on this bugger as possible.
8. Getting warped does not necessarily mean you can't get a sash. These things have a lot of hp, so you always have a chance of running back to it before it dies/poofs. This is how I got my sash.
This event is even worse than the last. Way to go, S-E!
Honestly, maybe killing them 2 or 3 times is fun, but after that it's just frustrating.
I've been able to kite it and get hit over 50 times without being warped, so I know what I'm talking about when I say this: if you hit the mob for over 100 damage, there is no way to prevent being warped. And that's annoying. I can't believe the only rewards are two nearly-useless sashes. Sure, NINs might use 'em, but what about every other job? PLD is much better off with a Lifebelt or whatever else (the only exception is the LOW levels.).
Come to think of it, though, S-E is probably just throwing these events out at us while they're focusing on the problem at hand: How to put spaces in a jug pet's name. (BSTs will know what I'm talking about here.)
This has been said alot, if you don't like it then don't do the event. Items from events have never been SUPER GREAT ITEMS.
Agreed.
I never understand why people do these events and bitch the whole time.
If they dislike it so much why are the doing it?

Don't like to haste our precious NIN tank? You're not RDM, then. -Apple Pie/Grendal
The sash can be pretty good for NIN I suppose, but I sort of hate the items to, I like events because of how the gear looks (Summerfest = Yukatas/Swimsuits, Christmas = Santa hat, etc.)

BTW, you don't necessarily have to wear the belt the entire time, just macro it in for stuff.
It's been pretty fun
If it's been said a lot, what's the point of repeating it? Does it make you feel... superior? I'm paying for this game, and I'm expressing my opinion on the matter.
There's no need at all for you to state the obvious while you're in your 'fanboy rage' state. --;
