  • Steps of Faith is easier and more fair with the update

this is actually for the greater good of that battle, mew. =^^=

Steps of Faith had great feeling beating it, but most are not organized and patient enough to beat it.
I would say it wasn't too hard (it is easier to learn and beat than Extreme primals),
but I think it is probably on the line between being unbeatable for some and others that make it with a good team.

"The strength of the Echo granted in the Final Coil of Bahamut has been increased.
The echo will take effect upon entering the Final Coil of Bahamut, increasing players' maximum HP, damage dealt, and healing magic potency by 15%.
    * Unlike other instances, the strength of the Echo will not increase upon total party incapacitation.

    ----------------------------------------

The Steps of Faith has been adjusted as follows:
Vishap's maximum HP has been reduced.
The maximum HP of all enemies that spawn has been reduced.
Damage dealt by certain enemies has been reduced.
Damage dealt by Vishap's underfoot attack has been reduced.
Damage dealt by Bertha cannons upon exploding has been reduced.

    ----------------------------------------

The music played when riding the following mounts has been changed:
    Sleipnir / Aithon / Xanthos / Gullfaxi / Enbarr / Markab / Boreas

It is a good thing they didn't nerf the Chrystalis fight, that is decent fair challenge, mew.

that is very elitist and selfish, mew. Story content should not be so hard that only half can beat the story battles. Steps of Faith is almost up there with Extreme battles and Coils, too difficult for most groups. It's not like they made it as easy as Ifrit normal, mew. Groups still have to put fair effort to beat that content. Steps of Faith didn't give much rewards/incentives to replay it. If it stayed as hard as it was, it would be like Cape Westwind, except it would be too hard to beat and harder to get a decent group.

regular Steps of Faith caused more people to leave, than those that left because they nerfed Steps of Faith.
Steps of Faith was like if they added Steps of Faith Extreme before adding Steps of Faith Normal/hard.
Steps of Faith is harder than Garuda and Titan Hard, harder than LOTA bosses, harder than Syrcus Tower bosses,
harder than World of Darkness bosses. that is too hard for most people, mew.

When a story battle is harder than raids, a difficulty nerf is a very smart and fair thing.

          Wat.

Steps of Faith is one of the easiest of the story missions to do.

You don't really mean that, mew. The tree and golem bosses are the easiest. The easiest bosses are soloable.

You just say that because you are among us that had enough skilled and adaptable people to beat it, but what about those that don't?

It can't be ignored that over half of the adventurers could not beat Steps of Faith. There are so much steps to beat it that
one weak point could lead to not accumulating enough DPS to finish Vishap. And it's not like Vishap is the only thing they are fighting,
there are legions of dragons and a turtle that spreads AOE waves, along with Vishap feet that also do damage.

So it demands a little too much from parties than a story mission should.

Yes, the difficulty has a thrill to beating it, but that is unfair to those that don't have a well rounded party to beat it.
Considering they patched it, that shows how huge an issue it is to a lot of adventurers that are not as organized and skilled.

Steps of Faith doesn't give enough rewards to make it duty finder friendly, and parties have disbanded before they even start.
In 2.55 Steps of Faith, the party had to be almost perfect to beat it.

Story content that is harder than Crystal Tower Raid content is already crossing the line with difficulty curve, mew.

To top it all, Steps of Faith is required to progress in the story, which is required to access most of the Heavensward content,
so it makes sense and it is fair to patch this so Heavensward users will be able to enter Ishgard and beyond.
They still have to put effort into it, and it still is a longer and harder battle than Shiva hard, which is quick and easy compared to that.

The nerf broke my streak of 22 straight failed pugs. I wanted to see how far I could get it *shakes fist angrily at SE*

Re: Steps of Faith is easier and more fair with the update

Steps of Faith was an epic fight and part of a fitting end of 2.0 where you would often win by the skin of your teeth.

The nerf makes it pathetic and anticlimatic. Vishap dies before the first Snares now...

They turned a fun fight into something to appeal to people that want to solo everything and can't learn the basics of teamwork and coordination.

Re: Steps of Faith is easier and more fair with the update

I agree Steps of Faith was great and not extreme hard, it was in such a way that was beatable through trial and error (like Garuda Hard), the teams I
beat it with all beat it without looking up guides.
but SE is against the wall with how Steps of Faith is the bottleneck that leads to the expansion content,
at least we who completed Steps of Faith before patch got the perfect balance of that challenge, since March.
Older content would naturally become easier, it was to be expected, mew.
They can't afford to sell an expansion to the majority if Steps of Faith remained at that level where most would rather give up than try harder and understand
the trial better. With over a month of feedback, it is clear that Steps of Faith was too hard for most subscribers, and no one likes getting stuck, especially
those with less patience and want to make the most of their subscription and progress.
