  • 2.2 hints Musketeers, Thieves and Ninjas coming soon??

    Oh mew!!!! The cutscenes are soooooo amazing!!!! So much mew mew foreshadowing too!!!! =^.^= Some speculate that Musketeers, Thieves and Ninjas will be added in 2.3 or 2.4. They seem to be getting ready. Perhaps the new Guild will take place in Limsa Lominsa, and that will lead towards Thief and Ninja. Musketeer Guild is pretty much obvious.
    Though it seems this kind of mew mew discoveries may bring up the possibilities that Dark Knight and Dancer will have Guilds in Ul'dah, with Samurai Guild perhaps located at Gridania.

    It's pretty much explicitly stated in the 2.2 questline from the start that Thief will be the next class.

    Honestly I was pissed off to find out that was it as far as 2.2 story content goes. As soon as the 2.2 story finally gets somewhere and starts being interesting it just abruptly ends with no closure or resolution other than "Congratulations, oh by the way Thief is coming". There's really only about an hour of content there if you cut out all of the padding (where you do nothing but run around for merchants in Thanalan for about 3 hours with nothing actually happening to advance the storyline), and most of that is cutscene.

    Compared to the storyline for 2.0 and 2.1, 2.2 was kind of...Meh...

      Yep, so much for 2.2 having "twice the amount of content that 2.1 will".


      Guess they meant it in terms of file size, seeing as there was a lot of voice acting. It wasn't even all that interesting.

      *sigh* this is what I miss about XI - even the side quests were generally entertaining. I swear outside of the Coil plot it's like they aren't even trying anymore.

        Honestly I've had far more fun from the sidequests than the main quest.

        The Hildebrand questline was great though and was actually more than an hour long once you cut out all the padding. Plus that fight and the storyline in general were a LOT of fun. Gilgamesh was intentionally put in there as a fight you can just have fun with too. Same with Mog. Leviathan is a pretty fn fight, and the whole ship rocking mechanic does make things pretty tense. I remember screaming the first time it happened, and my FC all laughed.

        Plus Gardening with the new FC has actually been pretty fun (don't ever touch our Pineapples if you value your continued existence), stuff like challenge logs and the Chocobo now being mountable while summoned also means I'm out in the open world a lot more often. The new daily quests are fun too. I never get bored of the Kobald ones. Plus all three of the new dungeons are a LOT of fun, and actually pretty challenging if you do them in iLv70 gear since that is what they are balanced for.

        T6-9 are pretty brutal as well. I can see them taking Raiders a while to get through. Trust me when I say you will need full optimised iLv90.

        Also the new Caster gear will make my Miqote look like Harley Quinn in a Top Hat! What the fuck else do you want?

          2.2 has great stories! Including the Godbert and Gilgamesh stuff, mew. The Hildebrand sidequest series is among the most entertaining quests ever created, mew.

          Oh so I think I haven't done the rest of 2.2, because

          That was when "Through the maestrom" achievement was awarded.

          Where they really planning to build the Guild at "that" spot? Seems kind of little room for a Guild there, considering that area in Limsa is practically a bridge/path, unless they add a secret ladder there that an npc scoots over and uncovers it. 2.2 is quite beefy compared to the average update, mew.
          Thief might be a Job, along with Ninja. And their class could be something like a Scout or something.

                Aren't those thieves? Then again, if you've done the Paladin quest, they've also employed assassins, so not sure if Ninja is going to come out just yet.

                  Well, my guess for a while now has been that Assassin will be the base class, branching into THF and NIN.

                  They could also end up having THF & DNC share the dagger class however.

                    I think you're right on the money, Mal. And I would so hit that DNC class hard if it comes out (or Samurai as my go to DD, since I'm not particularly enamored with the others currently in the game)

                      The main think i an pondering is how would they make THF unique from how MNK plays (since it is the game's "Rogue" class) and anything like SAM from DRG.

                        Easy, just do what they did in XI - have THF emphasis hate manipulation. XIV is much faster paced sure, but there's no reason they can't have SATA and other skills in there.

                        What annoys me more is how stuff like Treasure Hunter/Gil Finder will work given how XIV handles loot.


                        DNC on the other hand feels like such a perfect fit for this game. It was a little annoying in XI because a weaponskill would completely drain your TP supply. However, they would have to do 1 of 2 things to make DNC viable:


                        Either give the class some traits (since we lack Job traits which I still think is lame) that enhance natural TP regeneration, or change the TP system back to how it was before in 1.23 and have skill speed affect auto-attack rate. In fact I'd rather they do the latter anyway as that would help set MNK and DRG apart from each other better - DRG being the slower, hard hitting dps emphasizing big crits with MNK going for continuous, rapid smaller strikes. It would also help WAR out tremendously as running out of TP on WAR is a very real and aggravating problem.

                        But yeah, with XIV's pace DNC would be such a perfect fit and probably the ideal healer for speed runs in dungeons since it would be a more offensive healer. MAKE IT HAPPEN YOSHIDA!!!
