    Avoid 331.82

I installed it earlier and now XIV is running like complete shit. My framerate has gone all to hell and even the audio lags.

What card are you using if you are only just using 331.82 drivers?

Running the 331.93 Beta drivers and everything is flawless maxed out O.o

EDIT: Rolled back to the 331.82 Drivers and I'm having zero issues. It's most likely your setup.

I've been running it for quite awhile. No problems here.

        GTX 465

I'm at a complete loss as to what to do here. I'm sick of the goddamn random PC crashes that result from all drivers post 3.14.22 (though I was free of them for the last few months until I ran my anti-virus and removed some shit the other day) and I can't play XIV at all with these new drivers, the performance just tanks all to Hell.

I'm at my wit's end here... the drivers I had this morning ran the game just fine but again, the crashes.... I have both it and 3.14.22 sitting in my downloads folder just idk wtf to do.

Get the PS3 version? Or, wait for PS4 version? There are no guarantees in a video gamer's life, but "weird setup problems" are less likely to poke you in the eye playing on a console.

Game crashes due to hardware being on the low end of the system requirements are fairly common. I got them very often on my old PC, and an FC member with a rig pretty much identical to my old one suffers from the same crashes all the time (though to be fair she does suck at keeping her machine cool).

You know when we told you to save money on the PS4 and put it towards building a new PC? Yeah.

Are you certain it's the graphics card? Perhaps you need to do a clean install with the current beta drivers?

I had the same issue a while back with some of the newer drivers on a 560Ti, so I just went back to 313.96 and it's been working fine ever since.

                    Re: PSA for nVidia owners

A great many of them were guilty in not knowing how to do a clean install.

                    1. Uninstall all nVidia related software. ALL OF THEM.

                    2. Reboot your PC into "safe mode".
(Make sure you have disabled "automatic updating" in Control Panel. There are 2 or 3 places where you need to disable this, so Google it as there are thousands of articles on this procedure. This does not only affect Windows Updates, but it affects how Windows behave each and every time it "discovers" new hardware. Whenever you uninstall drivers, you run the risk that Windows will automatically just install whatever shit it feels appropriate for a "newly rediscovered" hardware and this is where most people run into issues where they thought they already uninstalled their drivers)

                    3. Delete all nVidia related folders (usually on the C:/ root level or in Program Files/Program Files (x64))

                    4. For the truly paranoid, using CC Cleaner or other related programs, do a cleaning of your Windows Registry.

                    5. Reboot Windows.

                    6. Disable all overlay programs, like Steam, MSI Afterburner, etc.

                    7. Install the nVidia "all-in-one-software-which-they-don't-say-that-it-is". Do not blindly choose "easy install" and manually pick ONLY THE COMPONENTS YOU WILL TRULY USE. You can safely just choose the "driver" and nothing else. For example, if you already have an audio software, why do you want to install the nVidia one?

                    8. Reboot Windows before using your PC after you installed the nVidia drivers.

nVidia may claim you don't need to, but I tell you, their programming is absolute shit enough to ignore their PR claims and just do the things you would normally do on a Windows 98 SE2 PC back in the days.

Being lazy and complacent with your install routines will end up showing up in the way your PC is being managed - that of incomptenance. A lot of what goes wrong is subtle since Windows 7/8 hides problems and issues on the OS level, but they do not have control over what happens in programs and applications running on top of their OS. Which is why these types of problems are inconsistent and you get a lot of comments like, "but my 43 other games run just fine" even when you know their lying out of their ass because you can bet they're so lazy that they didn't open anything else other than minesweeper to check.

uninstalled the shit, put 314.22 back on, everything run smooth so far just like the thread said to.

Like 2 years now this has been a known issue and yet they've done shit all about it. If ATI comes out with some really competitive cards against the 700 series I'm switching brands.

ATI has driver problems in spades and have been guilty of not updating them as nearly as they claim to (or it could be that certain cards get cut off without warning) I have friends who are moaning and groaning about their driver woes with ATI.

Moral of the story: it doesn't fucking matter. If you have so much bloat in your PC, it's time to blow it all up and start fresh. Don't install crapware you don't need, even if it's free, and always run manual install to control what is being installed with your software. Invest in simple maintenance tools that clean your registry and scan for errors. Practice good maintenance habits on both hardware and software and I can guarantee you won't see as much problems as others are.

Isn't this software necessary if you're using the mini-HDMI out port?

Every expert I've spoken to has said registry cleaning is not only unnecessary but also a big potential risk, as even if you do it right there's always a chance of it doing permanent damage. I generally just go with the express installations for most things save for a few programs where I really don't want all the extra crap they throw in and rarely if ever have issues.

I was under the assumption that Windows has the basic drivers necessary for that to work. The problem with the nVidia audio drivers is that it interferes with the drivers for your on-board motherboard audio chipset (or a standalone card) or any audio device (e.g., Korg keyboard) It also touts a home theater application suite as well as direct controls over your speakers. But all of this is unnecessary and in fact you can get just the particular parts of that suite from nVidia's developer site, which is available for all.

That's probably because most professionals will tell you to do a wipe and reload of your PC every 18 months, rendering maintenance of registry as unnecessary. However, I can attest that the performance of your PC increases measurably after cutting out bloat and that's because of the way Windows process registry keys. If there are duplicate or multiple entries which essentially does the same thing, it slows down the OS, causes all kinds of conflicts and can even interfere with complex processes (namely those that drive a GPU)

The quick and easy solution for most users is a registry cleaning software, provided that they use the most minimal options available (e.g., the opposite of aggressive cleaning, which I don't advocate) But if you're technically inclined, you can manually lift key entries, as I've done. Also, Windows registry default is not optimal, and anyone worth their salt can attest to that. Essentially it's like getting a new Android phone on contract. More than likely they stuck in the most obnoxious apps and adware on it, and also configured it so that your battery bleeds in 30 minutes, and you're left wondering if your phone is a lemon. You can be a sheep, or you can take the initiative and learn more about your toy and how to maintain it. Your choice.
