I'm going to give PvP a try, and look into crafting a bit more since housing and PvP should bring new recipes and reasons to craft. Hopefully, something catches my interest.
We'll know tomorrow (hopefully) after the Live Letter.
EDIT: Leveling is equally dreadful, just spamming the same FATE over and over (which usually end within seconds of spawning unless it's a big NM, then maybe 2, 3 min tops) with the dull boring waits in between. Seriously mob grinding was more fun...
Probably your server group and/or your time zone. If the DF server is full, it doesn't matter if you're a tank or not, you don't get in unless a slot opens up. I don't know if you understand how the system is currently setup, but you should check out the official forums where people have sat in DF queue for hours, I think someone once sat in queue for over 6 hours.
Oh wow, now I just look like an ass haha..
I didn't know they set it up like that. They either need to add more severs then or...
As I saw in another game (idk what game.) They can make the person's system be the host. But, that might not work too well.

It was way worse at release. So what Yoshi-P announced back then was that in early September they were adding a second DF server. It didn't help matters and it made it a lot worse due to latency issues (both were located in Japan) They then added a 3rd in late September, and then split all JP/EU/NA worlds into 3 groups, so that each group would have DF activity around the clock. They were going to add a 4th (or planning to) with Patch 2.1, but from what I was seeing in their posts, it seems that SE may be overhauling the system for something akin to Blizzard's system, where there is a DF server cluster, which will then enable them to have ridiculous amounts of instances at once, which then they *may* open up the possibilities of localized non-DF entries (including soloing, but remember that in 1.0, they never allowed soloing, either, and they weren't exactly swamped with activities and they did not have a DF system)
No! Bad Mal! *whacks with newspaper* Nothing is worse than that!
Except for trying to merit on WHM pre-Abyssea.
Honestly, there were good Dunes parties.
As to WHM meriting pre-Abyssea, was it that bad? My view may be skewed, but the LS I was in had no issues with WHM (or any other job) in merit parties.

In ToAU and WoTG it was healing as RDM or DNC or GTFO with most groups. Even my LS stopped throwing the WHMs pity invites towards the end and the WHMs all switched to RDM, COR or BRD to get merits for WHM.

Believe it or not I actually have a fair chunk of good Dunes memories (and just as many horror stories rofl)
I'm just saying, some things were better in XI and it makes me wonder if SE should have just left well enough alone. For everything they fixed that sucked about XI they've created a new issue ><

I guess every LS is different; while we did use RDM + BRD + COR set ups at times, we also had plenty of WHMs in merit parties, plus the likes of BLU, PUP, BST--pretty much whatever people wanted, as long as we had a healer and someone to provoke/flash. (We did make ask front line to use /NIN, though.)
Heck, we once had an alliance of 7 people, with the 7th (my PLD) outside main party as the primary puller at the Colibri camp.
Of course, we didn't try for zillion exp/hour*; a bit of fun while getting a few merit points was our goal.
* I did a lot of parsing back then; the LS parties easily beat out the majority of the pick up merit groups I got, so it wasn't exactly "waste of time" from the the exp/hour angle, either.
