I said compare AF with what can be bought, I was meaning bought with gil. The gear that is 70 that can be bought with gil is about a mil. I dont think anyone will be dropping a mil just to get them buy until they can get darklight. That's my point.

Don't get me wrong, i am going to be getting darklight, as im sure everyone else is too, as soon as possible. BUt that means doing ALOT of AK runs in full AF until you cna accumulate enough points...
That's precisely the point i was making originally as well, until Dak started spewing nonsense. There's only 1 piece of that gear I'm genuinely interested in atm, and that's the Vanya Sash of casting because the Hero's Belt of Casting, while it has higher stats, can't be melded and neither belt has crit rate on them.
I swear Crit is the new Haste in ARR. It affects heals, damage, even DoTs apparently... If I'm guilty of any elitism, it's laughing @ the scrubs on the official forums who are saying (and it's like, a couple ppl at best who made a thread and are morons IMO) that skill speed is the better stat. Yeah 'cause dropping that GDC down from 2.5 to 2.4 seconds is so much better than landing crits more reliably for 50%+ extra damage. Last night during the final mission I was hitting the bosses for nearly 1000 damage with Fester thanks to criticals, IN FREAKING AF!!!
I will not be convinced Crit Rate is anything less than "the tits". Someone also posted a SS of their SCH landing an AoE heal crit for over 4k HP!
Af gets +1 vit, -1 int, -13 mnd, +22 acc, + 10 det, -19 crit, -13 spell speed. So for summoner if you are DPS like what you were refering to, wouldn;t you rather have +22 acc and +10 det, giving up -19 crit adn -13 spell speed? I haven't played summoner, but to me the AF is better in that instance. Or am i missing something? (and since i havent played summoner yet, i just might be...)

I left off the -13 mind in comparison by accident. But for DPS, does mind really matter?
Firewind, relax, Dak is doing endgame and has been doing better since he transferred to my server on Siren. He is not spouting any nonsense or BS, just that he's using his personal experience. Dak is solo queueing atm as my FC hasn't yet been getting enough steam to "roll" into end-game yet. First things first, we need more 50s, and that's hard with lack of attendance.
Right now, from what I'm seeing, AF is awesome at level 45. However, as I'm looking at level 50, the value of AF diminishes, and hopefully you are doing the other dungeons to get better loot and tomestones, etc. before entering the hard mode. I don't see this as elitism versus "I want my shiny fucking right now and I don't want to work for it." There's a nice balance in between, some personal responsibility is involved, but it's not like you should be painting end game in the extremes.

My personal take is this: you solo queue, then gear up, bite the bullet. Otherwise, do what other people have done, join a proper FC, prove yourself, and get into a solid static group (in non-FF games, this is what we would call getting into the "first or second raid groups") If you're totally awesome player, this shouldn't be difficult for you, and hope you get into a meritocratic type of group (rewards effort and ability over personal relationships and emotions)
Note: Benefits of joining an FC is that you get people who can meld, craft, etc. w/o charging you an arm and a leg. I plan on working my crafts to 50 (all of mine are near 35 now) and along the way, for the low level characters, I can whip out HQ gear for them on the spot, and I'm sure there lots of more progressed FCs that do the same. Take the FC on my server with the <MVP> tag. Their members hit 50 and they're greeted with green shinies, HQ'd, and with melded materia. MMOs are all about the social and all about the group. JPs are group mentality oriented already, so they got a head start on the rest of us. We just need to get better about that.
So I just got trolled hard by a complete douchebag WHM.
Doing wanderer's Palace and a Warlock's Satchel Belt drops, which is a good deal better than my current Raptorskin. Dude Needs it, and then I checked his gear and he's got full darklight, including accessories + Garuda Staff.... I asked him why the hell he rolled Need on that when he has clearly superior gear, and he said he wanted to sell it for GC seals.
At that point I threw a fit and just trolled the group. /sat untli they got to the boss, when I eventually got bored and decided to help only because i wanted the mythology tomes. Seriously what kind of scrub do you have to be that you gotta rob other people from upgrading their gear for USELESS GC seals that you can max within an hour or so of high level FATE?
I'd argue that sitting down and refusing to help is actually more childish than robbing you of a belt you'll be replacing in a hurry. All you're doing is hurting the other members of the party.
What point did you end up making though? It sounds like they would have finished your run without you--and more importantly, you ended up helping them in the end anyway. I think you hurt yourself more than anyone else, because it takes what...4 runs to get enough tomes for the DL belt? So the longer it takes you per run--the more painful you made it on yourself. I get your point, but that's the disadvantage of the DF, they know you'll never see them again--and even if on the small chance you do, most people don't remember the other guy so they could honestly care less about you.
Hell, we recently did a shout in RT for speed Garuda runs and a SCH snatched a Garuda fist weapon from my friend (he asked if anyone needed the weapon prior, his MNK was level 50 and he was tanking for them) and the SCH rolled greed anyway and just /sat in the instance after everyone left. In the end, he/she won the roll and didn't even need it. For reference, this SCH's PUG was level 1 and MNK was not even unlocked. That's just how modern MMO"s are. You won't find that warm-let's-hold-hands mentality like you did in circa-2005 FFXI. Then again, with all the HNM and BCNM drama back in the day, I'd argue there was never a good point in any MMO; only sporadic moments...this of course referring to random groups, and not your close friends.
I guess that reading all this, I've been lucky thus far on Shiva - I was injured fighting and a random player sent me a cure spell as he passed, which I found was quite nice of them, I always try and repay the favour if I see players injured when I'm passing.
Unfortunately, douchebaggery is the way of the internet.
I'm tired of running all over the place to finish the storyline. It would be ok if I was running all around and each CS i got to was part of the storyline, but to run here and then there to go talk to someone about picking something up or dropping something off... It makes the storyline cumbersome...
Mal, too bad you can't transfer from Legacy to Non-legacy. There's a lot of better FCs out there.
Even when we're mostly static, we pug a 4th slot, we get the douchebags who ninja rolls. But you know what? We don't care. As long as that player actually contributed, we feel that everyone has an equal shot at loot. And as Hayde stated, it'll be replaced eventually (although I'm talking about pre-50 stuff, so Mal should still have a bit more right in his grievances, but SE could've done something if they thought it wasn't fair by eliminating the "turn in loot for seals" option)
They really need to get rid of the Mythology cap. It's complete bullshit.
It takes 10.4 weeks to get 1 full set of armor for just 1 job, and that's if you cap your seals each and every week. Now, this wouldn't be as bad in a game like WoW, where you *have* to make alt characters to play a different class. But in a game where you can play everything, it's an arbitrary and downright infuriating restriction. It's honestly starting to really kill my enjoyment of the game, along with the lack of a good FC, DF douchebaggery, and that the 1st major patch won't be until December (wtf SE) and on top of that, doesn't even address some of the big concerns like the status effect cap on monsters (which is going to severely affect Crystal Tower).
So I just got trolled hard by a complete douchebag WHM.

I need an endgame FC....
You can run the dungeon more than once. Being a complete ass is worse than him stealing gear from you. There is no real set drop rate it's just a random chance that you get what you want and if you want to get mad, get mad at SE for making an honor system. There is no honor among thieves. You should knows this.
