Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?

    You're not even listening.

On some of the higher level items I've made, I've managed to get upwards of 10k per synth (getting quality between 90~100%) and I gain like... 3, 4% SB if I'm lucky.

That's bullshit. Either it's only calculating SB off the base EXP (very likely) of the synth relative to my level, crafting gear - especially tools - take substantially more EXP to max out than combat gear does which is also BS.

Again conversely, I go and do a FATE and gain like 10% if not more, while getting considerably less EXP overall compared to when I'm crafting (Leve EXP definitely doesn't count as I've been getting upwards of 81.5k EXP per leve off the 40's). The manual EXP nerf just strikes me as arbitrary, as it's only going to hurt new players - I'm at the point where I can HQ virtually any synth I want to whether I have HQ materials or not (I'm that good now AND NO I'M NOT TELLING HOW I DO IT) so I don't need the boosted EXP from them anymore the way I spammed them in 1.0; HQ'ing leves is giving me absolutely retarded EXP, upwards of 1/4 of my level in 1 shot and this is at 45+....

It's that final point that pisses me off most of all, as it means generating crafting Materia is a very long and very expensive ordeal.
Use your Leve allowances from 20-40 (let's face it, that's all leves are good for since Battle and Gathering classes level way faster without them). In 1-20 and 40-50 the amount you get from even NQs is crazy, nevermind what you get from HQ attempts.

If you're having trouble levelling up a Crafting class you're doing it wrong.

Explain, please. Also explain your dislike for the Summoner job.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?

Fates give far more than Leves ever will for Battle classes.

And for Gathering classes you miss out on a LOT of materials that you can easily flip, or craft into components to maximise the profits from each Gathering Trip. Plus Leves are a massive waste for Fishing too since once you get Mooch, it's hard NOT to get insane XP.

Seriously it doesn't take long to build up a stack of 99 materials that you can flip as is or in stacks, or convert to say Ingots or thread which sell stupidly fast. For example, I can mine 3 stacks of level appropriate ore, pretty much gain a level, then convert that into a full stack of Ingots, pretty much gaining a level in that profession of it's not maxed.

Crafting Components and doing Commissions is where the money is (seriously, you'd be surprised as to how much Americans tip for a HQ or Slotless Meld attempt, it's crazy). With actual gear I frequently come way too close to my bottom line price that I would like (always have one in mind, you will never get your original price for an item on the AH even if you corner the server market like I have with Tourmaline Rings, it's way to competitive right now), and it might take days or weeks to sell it, which is an Auction House slot that could be used up by components that will be sold three times over by the end of the day.

I prefer to use Leves for gathering personally, as faster EXP = better gear = better shots at gathering HQ materials. I don't disagree with the collecting of raw materials though.

And I'm not having trouble getting exp, for the last goddamn time, L2R, I'm having major issues filling up the spirit bond on my crafting tools and to a lesser degree my crafting gear. It takes 10x the amount it does compared to Combat gear and that's just stupid. My only guess is that SE wants to keep crafting materia specifically very rare... otherwise they're incompetent and don't realize how lopsided SB is for combat vs crafting & gathering.

Where do i go to exhcnage the cracked materia? And i get to exchange it for ARR new materia correct? Does it have to be in the equipment gear slot the materia is currently in or do they let you pocket the new materia and apply it to a new piece of equipment?

You can retrieve the cracked materia and get a new one for it, or sell the item for Tomes which are used for buying stuff like Darklight and Relic Weapons

Oh wow! Selling it for Tomes sounds the way to go! How many Tomes would you get for a top tier materia on a piece of armor and how many tomes are required for the darklight and relic weaps? Are tomes acquired other ways?

Quick Synth and go AFK. It doesn't take that long at all for SB to build. Your FC shouldn't be using the SB gain bonus when they can use it to help people level their Craft/Gathering Classes or reducing Repair Bills for raids.

Dhorme Chimera. How the hell is this supposed to be beaten? Even playing perfectly, I'm not able to interrupt his OHKO Ram's Voice 100% of the time due to diminishing returns on my stun. Even when we get down to the wire, 3/5 of the dps are down, 1 of the healers is dead, and the tank is at half HP as an electric ball is chasing my brother around while he's trying to keep us up., we still end up wiping on it. I've spent like 7 hours on this part of the quest so far.

Is any of the darklight armor not worth getting when you compare it to how good other dark light armor is or when you compare the stats to other crafted and materia melded gear?

The solution is there, but he rather SE bend over for him. Because I'm an HQ freak, I actually sit and plow through each and every mat synthesis (if it gives at least 2.5%~3% of the TNL in exp, which means I only need to synth 36 times at most to get the next level) and collect HQ items in storage. Then craft a bunch of items for the log completion bonus exp until the next tier of recipes get unlocked and then hit *that* level of mats. Alchemy and Cooking is the only craft where I have trouble finding a good way to grind though, but every other craft has a component at each tier or every other tier that makes it worth grinding through.

This becomes an important process in later stages of the craft, because you can store your HQ mats into the FC bank, and encourage fellow members to do the same, where they can produce HQ items downstream with it. An FC bank stock to the gill with HQ mats makes a stronger crafting FC. I don't know if Neighbortaru knows this, but the bank is open for him to take and give at will. We've been like that since before in previous MMOs. I'm notorious to hoarding but I only hoard leveling mats. I've been storing all the HQ crafted (and normal ones) from leveling into the FC bank since it's better if someone uses it. I'm sure Firewind has a similar system in his FC. It basically is what SE wants ... a vibrant FC, a vibrant community. Not a game for solo hoarders.
