  • Regarding Preparations to Increase the Capacity of our Data Centers (Aug. 27)

Thank you very much for playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

We would like to make a clarification regarding our previous announcement “Regarding Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds (Aug. 27)” in which we stated that we are preparing to increase the capacity of our data centers.

The first half of the announcement regarding login and character creation restrictions was directed towards our players who would be playing during peak hours in Japan data center Worlds.

However, the second half of the announcement regarding increasing the capacity of our data centers was meant to also encompass North American and European data center Worlds and not just be limited to Japan data center Worlds.

We deeply apologize for causing concern amongst the North American and European community due to our lack of clarity. Capacity will be increased for data centers in all regions.

Once again, thank you for your understanding and cooperation to help us welcome more players to the game.

FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone | Announcing Server Enhancements and the Temporary Suspension of Digital Download Sales (08/28/2013)

We would like to thank you for your continued support of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Since the start of early access on Saturday, August 24th, an enormous amount of users have been logging in to the game. As such, the number of users logging in has been increasing at a rate that is much higher than what we had originally anticipated. To ensure that we maintain a quality level of service for everyone, we have been setting restrictions on both the creation of characters as well as adjusting the number of users that are able to log in. We are well aware that these restrictions are a source of frustration for our users who are waiting to play.

To address this matter, we are currently working on introducing new Worlds and enhancing the performance of the login and match making processes on both the Japanese and North American & European data centers. This operation is expected to be completed at the beginning of next week.

Until this operation is complete, we would like to prioritize the quality of service for those who have already purchased the game. Therefore, we are temporarily suspending the sale of the digital download versions of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Once the operation has been completed, the sale of the digital download version will resume.

While the operation is in progress, we will continue to apply restrictions on both the creation of characters and the ability to log into the game. Throughout this time, we will be offering constant updates on the progress of the operation.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes our users and humbly request your understanding.

Final Fantasy XIV Breaks More Records with 218,000 Concurrent Connections, Players Will Receive “Several Free Days” | DualShockers

...According to Yoshida-san the traffic peak touched 218,000 users connected at the same time, showing that the popularity of the game is continuing to grow despite the problems caused by server congestion.

The development team is keeping up the good work on improving the situation, and for now is focusing on solving the problems at the root with enhancements to the server structure and the implementation of new servers instead of resorting to placebo solutions like an automatic kick for inactive players.

The implementation and optimization of the server is almost done, with the software installed on the machines and testing underway. The measures taken by the development team are expected to increase the capacity of both the Japanese and the North American/European datacenters significantly, smoothing out the login and performance issues. In addition to that, they will also increase visibly the performance of the content finder and of party matching.

Work is scheduled to be completed during the week end and we’ll see its effects at the beginning of next week.

It’s definitely worth mentionning that Yoshida-san also promised that in order to make it up to the players affected by the problems caused by server congestion, everyone will receive an extension to the free period by “several days” after the issues will be solved.

Broken records, better performance and free gameplay, what’s not to love?
The extra free time is a nice gesture.

          Thanks Yyg!

Oh mew things will be improved next week. =^^=

For now I'm wandering the Japan wilderness. They seem to have trouble understanding my mews.
*pack pack pack* *stuffle stuffle stuffle* I'll prepare the luggages for the move to a NA/EU server when things expand in the week to come.

With all the issues with getting on JP servers, it's hard not to giggle at the impatient people that jumped over.

I've been playing with zero issues on JP servers for the past two days. I think I've logged in about twelve hours in that time, alone. I've had zero issues with logging in and completing various dungeons through the duty finder.

Already playing, you can still get booted from the amount of overpopulation, mew. Got booted 3 times last night in a Japan server, including in areas that aren't heavily populated (and once during a cutscene). The Japan worlds are being packed too. Wonder if there will be enough NA/EU servers being added.

Played this morning no trouble logged out for 2 hours for lunch and a rest can I log abck in? F no, 1017 error, can';t find EU/NA servers and now start button wont even illuminate to go in. On top of that My ISP traffic throttling from 7pm my time means I really can only play before 7pm and its very frustrating. Basically having to turn aroudn work days so play in mornings to mid afternoon then work all evening just so I can play the sodding thing.
