Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment in FFXIV - ARR Edition
you need to just keep doing the main storyline quests until the IF gets unlocked right?
Yes. The quest chain to unlock Grand Companies comes right after you beat Ifrit. It will start with Minfilia in the Waking Sands.

Got almost all my DoH classes to 15. Only ones lagging behind are ALC (currently working on) and ARM. ARM hit the iron wall at 12, so I need to go out and start Miner. Once I get to 15 on ALC, I will unlock MIN and BOT and take them to 15-20 to get mats to continue my DoHs.

Got Darklight Body and Legs giving me the full body armour set.
Garuda L50 downed and made progress on Titan L50, now we can get him past his two hour.
ALC and LTH class quests done and finished making all the NQ Militia OH tools for all my crafts.
Made the NQ version of the Weaver L50 gear.

Got my Ifrit's Grimoire after beating Ifrit Hard for the first time. Excluding the party I was already in when we entered the fight (myself and two FC friends), everyone else in the fight was extremely awesome. Despite our many muck ups, we all laughed and carried on. Always getting closer to victory.
Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment in FFXIV - ARR Edition
-Got most crafts to 12 and all gathering to at least 16.
-MRD/WAR to 34
-Flame Sergeant Third Class
-Haukke Manor completed (big let down, so fricking easy, was wondering why so "faesroll" as we powered through it, every door unlocked, every single mob killed in under half an hour)
-Brayflox unlocked
-Temple of Qarn unlocked
One of our FC member got a complete upgrade on that single run of Haukke ... What ... the ... fuck. From weapon to ring ... and everything in between. /sigh

I don't know if this is well known, but increasing the quality on item, regardless of whether or not they end up HQ, greatly increases the amount of EXP you gain from making them, even if they're simple ingredients. Using quick craft is the quickest way to kill your EXP gain.
Took Arcanist to 38, so now I'm at the max level for Qarn. Hopefully I can burn down those bees with double barrel Ruin.

Yeah. HQ also gets you a 200% XP bonus on Tradecraft leves. I find quick synth to be useful only once a recipe XP return doesn't justify the time it takes. Once I stopped getting less that 100 XP on Hemp Thread HQ, I decided it was time to QS it.

This is what I do as well. I basically take any "core mat recipe" and start grinding it the moment it becomes available to my craft (and not impossible to complete) and as soon as the exp tapers off to a really low amount and that there isn't another "core mat recipe" unlocked, I will just use the quick synthesis to get more mats in order to then work on the other recipes to get the required exp to level up and unlock more recipes.
@Mal - Aren't you getting bored with your "Beetah" character? I think you're seriously missing out on having to start from scratch. I've not had a tiny bit of interest in going back to my Legacy characters even for these "events" that SE is putting out.
Got nothing done last night because I spent most of it with family (e.g., homework, baths, dinner - the IRL stuff) and was too tired to do anything else. One of our FC members is still having the Visual C++ errors which is killing her interest in the game (and still haven't yet found a solution to it, running an AMD PC + ATI card) We got another member last night but not sure if they're actually going to play seriously (came off that other crack aka GW2 I think) Still looking for more to join the FC on Siren.
My friend blasted past me to 37 lol. Despite the fact that I had a 2 week head start on him =_=;
Are you saying that we should ditch our characters we worked so hard on and start over? hehe
Sure It's not the same as deleting it. But when I was playing on my Legacy during Phase 4, I got bored really, really quickly. Having all of that extra gil and that one level 50 DoW made things too ... easy. This game feels so brand new that I don't think you can do it justice with an existing 1.0 character. I mean, if you didn't progress very much at all during 1.0, then it'll still feel fresh. But if you got 50s already under your belt, then really, all you're doing is just breezing through the game and then making quick judgments and assessments based on that experience, but not seeing it through the lens of a brand new player.
Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment in FFXIV - ARR Edition
I guess that's an accomplishment ... I will tank Haukke Manor tonight in that awesome gear. Will report back the lulz (Well, if only my friend wants to heal with gray hairs)
Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment in FFXIV - ARR Edition
Not even a little.
F that noise, today was "Crafting Day" - I HQ'd all my crafting gear I was previously wearing, and HQ'd a lot of tools as well - made some nice cash in the process as well, knocking out synthns on my recipe lists for ARM, BSM & WVR. Took the better part of the afternoon but totally worth it.
