Okay, that's a pretty bad axe tbh.

You'd have been far better off maxing out DET and maybe Skill Speed (generally crappy stat but WAR's the 1 job that actually somewhat cares about it.)

DEX doesn't really boost parrying enough per point to be worth adding, particularly over more DET.

I don't know the materia cap for the axe is and it's still better than what I was using which was ilvl 47. Skill speed is useless unless you can get them in certain increments to really do anything, so your point is moot.

The Darklight Bill drops almost everytime in AK and that axe is better than the Bardiche.

It's actually worse if you really look at the stats carefully. Skill speed (as I've said above) is really, really useless. You guys really need to look up the math on it one of these days. Unless you're swimming in TP (which you shouldn't), shaving milliseconds off the GCD does jack-squat nothing for you. And I doubt a single one of you are going through these dungeons with less than 100 ms latency.

Edit: BTW I think you guys are relying on item comparisons from sites like XIVDB which does not have separate entries for HQ items. It's on the item listing, but HQ stats aren't calculated, only NQ, when doing comparisons. Both the HQ and the AK axe has the same damage (38), and everything else aside, the stats aren't good for tanking on the AK.

I didn't see your axe was HQ, i was comparing the NQ which is worse. Yes, if yours was HQ, then i think it is better than the darklight.

Even the GC axe isn't that bad an option, however it is rather expensive I think in terms of seals. My point was simply that if you were going to spend all that money upgrading an axe, it may as well have been the i70 one. Dunno what prices are like on your server but it's fairly cheap on Excalibur.

Had such a great day today.

I got to do Halatali and Bowl of Embers with bikkebakke. He doesn't think a lot of his tanking abilities, but I was probably ten levels higher before I had my act together as well as he does. Kinda brings back the magic for me to do content with someone who's seeing it for the first time. Also kinda funny remembering how hard Ifrit seemed the first time and how stressful that fight was only to go back and find he's a total joke.

I got to spend a lot of time with my newly dear friend Rain. He paid me a surprise visit at Bronze Lake where I was doing some crafting and sat with me as he waited on his queues. I waited on his CT to end so he wouldn't come back to find himself alone, and we sat and chatted by the water for a long while. Good times. Later in the day I did Brayflox with him, and had a laugh about how that used to be endgame. We fully cleared it like nobody ever does, and took a moment before Aiatar to admire the scenery and watch the sun rise over the Longstop through that huge corrupted crystal over Castrum Occidens.

I had the easiest roulettes ever, joining in progress two dungeons that were clear up to the last boss. 100 myth in 15 minutes and 5 commendations to boot, which put me over the 100 needed for the 3rd achievement and my pope hat.

I spent about an hour with my sweetheart, fishing by the Hanging Barbs in the Sylphlands. I polished off the last fishing achievement while I was there, claiming my rod of the luminary. That reminded a friend that she meant to commission some sardines from me, so I broke in the rod at South Umbral Isles. It’s good to feel useful.

I got to deck out another friend's new 40 warrior in an HQ mythril cuirass set with HQ heliodor accessories, all fully melded if not overmelded. Gained 5 levels on goldsmith in the process. Opportunities to synth nice things for people are getting rare these days, so I go at them with gusto. His reaction was the best drop of the day.

Basically I got to do a lot of different things with a lot of great people, accomplish some cool things for myself, and help out a lot of people along the way. I couldn’t possibly ask for better.

The best way to get weapons fast is to just farm Good King Moggle Mog XII. It's an easy and fun fight, and the weapons are around iLv80. As a tank you will get the easiest job of just kiting around the PLD or WAR Moogle the whole fight. Titan HM is an easy weapon farm too as a tank because you literally just stand there and occasionally step out of the blast radius of a bomb.

You're using the DF for Titan instead of forming your own group. That right there is your problem. If you use the DF for any PvE or PvP instance you automatically forfeit all right to whine when it inevitably fails.

Nah, I've had supposed expert pre-made parties on Excalibur enter Titan and people still manage to cock it up royally.

I only partially blame the community though, as Titan is the most ridiculous fight in the game. If it wasn't for landslide I wouldn't have any gripes with him, but just the tiniest bit of lag = doom for the group and that's just crap. Server-side detection blows (pretty sure WoW, GW2 and others are all client-side) at least for this game. I'm normally a fan of it (see: Battlefield) but in this case it's not good.

I wonder what's the "right" way to do this. Maybe it's "Trust--but verify"?

Client side events checking lets anyone with a cheat tool stand in AoE and not get hit. Server side checking puts player at the mercy of network latency and packet loss. (I'm not really buying "server lag" at this point.)

I regularly see 70%+ packet loss in pathping on AT&T's wonderful network behind its DSL, and know that Cable ISPs and FiOS love fiddle with traffic (while shouting gleefully "Network Neutrality is DEAD!"). GIVE ME MUNICIPAL FIBER! BIG GOVERNMENT FOREVER IS AOK (if I can have decent net connection)!

Heck, I'll even let NSA look at my phone record net traffic if it chips in and buys me a real connection. I'm OK with 3 Mbps and 98% uptime!!!! Very cheap to bribe!

Server side would be totally fine if Google Fiber was the global norm, but until that happens...

I've covered this before, it's not just your latency but also your framerate. Low FPS makes things ten times worse so consider checking your hardware as well. If you're running Titan below 60FPS then yes there's going to be problems there.

If it were always latency then Titan would be impossible for EU players. If you're also crying latency at dodging plumes then I'm sorry but you've never going to pass Turn 1 of Coil, or Phase 1 of Ultima HM.

I barely scratch 3-4MB down and 980kb-1.2MB up with my connection and can deal with Titan fine. There's something seriously wrong with your hardware setup.

Not quite lucky enough though, it was going for something absurd like 50 million on Excalibur at first and my FC was frantically trying to get one but we couldn't ; ;
