So my mages are now fully outfitted in HQ Astral choker, bracelet, and rings and HQ Rose Gold ring, all paired with tier 4 vitality materia. My solo HP is around 3850, and with the party buff i should be around 4100.

Now i just need to beat Titan ................... I have pretty much abandoned DF groups for Titan, they are all shit. You get one person that's new or doesn;t know the game plan, and it's a waster of 30 mins and all you gain from it is more experience up to the heart. No new groups i get in DF (probably around 50-60 now) can get past the heart. I've been using the party finder for groups and they can get past the heart, but usually fail shortly after the first set of bombs or the second mountain buster. My FC has a pretty hard core group that goes through turn 5 and helps out with Titan, i just need to find them when they are free.

Soloed one of the twins in Caduceus as BLM, partly because the BRD was shooting the wrong snake, mostly because I can. The Free Company's reaction over Mumble was hilarious too when they realised I had essentially beat a BRD, BLM and SMN in a DPS race.

The funniest part was when I wheeled around and hit their snake with the LB, getting the killing blown on both

Sadly only MNK and DRG gear dropped in the whole run. I swear to god Yoshi-P wants me to level DRG.

I need more DRG gear >_< Can't get those Onion Gloves to drop, nevermind win the lot. Ditto for the new accessories. I've got a pretty good crit build lined out that I want to test;


Weapon: Gae Bolg Zenith (I don't get why people are saying Allagan is BiS - it isn't)
Head: Allagan Visor of Maimimg
Body: Wyrm's Mail
Gloves: Allagan Gauntlets of Maiming (because I'd rather have accuracy over skill speed)
Waist: Hero's Belt of Maiming
Legs: Wyrm's Breeches
Feet: Allagan Sollerts of Maiming
Neck: Hero's Necklace of Slaying
Ears: Tremor Earrings of Stiking (less crit than allagan striking but you get a hefty DET bonus)
Wrist: Allagan Bracelets of Maiming (Though Inferno is tempting for the accuracy)
Rings: Vortex Ring of Striking & Ultima Band of Striking


It's basically a high crit build that tries not to sac too much STR/Acc/Det, altogether should put me around 536 crit I believe. I'm currently up to 512 and getting a pretty high crit rate (at least 25% if not more).


EDIT: Been going over each class lately and what stats seem to suit them, and I find it funny how time and again the Lodestone forumers praise the hell out of Skill Speed when I personally don't see the benefit of it. In fact the only class that seems to really benefit from a high speed count is BLM as it dictates how quickly they can burn through their MP in Astral Fire and rotate in and out. I'm on the fence about it with regards to healing as I've yet to see any situations where the Tank died because a cure didn't land soon enough (unlike in XI) rather than it did't heal for enough HP (which is where Crit & DET really help).

At best you can maybe sneak in a few extra attacks while your offensive cooldowns are active, otherwise it's just burning your TP faster. I much prefer crit over skillspeed as even though it's only a chance, it improves the quality of each strike which I find to be invaluable during fights where you have to dodge a lot and only have a brief window to attack in; Skill speed will rarely (if ever) allow for enough extra attacks within those short windows to matter compared to landing a big critical and doing upwards of 50% more damage. The other DRG in my FC is all excited as she's been hitting close to 1400 criticals on Jump lately. I rarely get over 1200 myself (iLv78 atm) and I'd love to try a parser to confirm my exact rate/percentage of damage as crits, but even just from eyeballing it I see those big numbers a hell of a lot more often since I broke the 500 mark and mobs just die so much faster. Nothing like landing a crit on a limit break either, holy crap...

The main problem with Haste Gear (using this as a catch-all term for Skill/Spell Speed gear) is that it doesn't give extra ticks to DoTs or HoTs. I'm not sure how it is for DRG but BLM has 3 main builds: DET, Crit and Spell Speed. Well there is also some nuts 24%+ Crit spec but even assuming perfect RNG on Crits it falls flat compared to the rest.

The main benefits of Haste gear as a caster is that you can be back to doing damage sooner after moving, and pets benefit from it now. That said there's really not that much of a difference between Det, Crit and Spell Speed. DET and Crit seem a little better for Coil through if only because you can switch your food to a DET food due to being hit capped, while the Spell Speed spec requires food to be hit capped for Coil. Having a Spell Speed set on BLM is still important though because it is just so useful in fights that need you to move a lot. All 3 specs have a decent amounts of Spell Speec, DET and Crit anyway, it's just a case of which of the three stats you want to lean towards more.

Plus remember you only need Accuracy Gear for Coil. No other encounters require it so for Extreme Primals, go nuts.

For Healers though, you want DET and Crit all the way. SCH wants more Crit due to Adolquim and its mechanic. As for melee classes, I have no fucking clue.

I found an app on the iphone called Titan companion. You hit start when the battle starts and Titan says his bit about the "Sons of man, killers of my children," and then it gives you an audible count down on whats coming up. If you speed through it faster than the normal, you can kick it into the next phase and go from there. Looks cool, and now no needing to trying and read a sheet of what his upcoming moves are. I'm good up until the heart, after the heart i'm not sure of the order of his skills, i normally just try and stay mobile. I'm looking forward to try it! Impriving from Ifrits cane to a relic is going to be huge................

In Phase 5, it is helpful to know that there is exactly 60 seconds between Stomps in his Rotation.

Titan is mostly about practise really. You really do need to keep practising until you know what is coming next in his rotation and start reacting without thinking. tools like your app and this cheat sheet should be nice training aids until you get it down.

PractiCe is fine, I just have a problem with the whole idea of server side hit detection. It's the worst on this fight. It's hard to get practice at it when you're a detriment to your group simply because you haven't done it enough to have the rotation memorized. It doesn't matter how good my reaction time is. If I'm not already moving when plumes pop I'm pretty well screwed.

That's what I thought. But they were pretty adamant about it being simpler. Something about there only being one bomb formation or something along those lines.

Still, I really don't like Titan in general. Landslide is a bullshit move that denies any form of recovery and stacking 3 at once is nonsense. I'm hoping they don't pull anymore bullcrap like that with Leviathan.
