How am I leveling too fast on BSM? All I'm doing is maxing my EXP gain per synth, no bonus EXP involved apart from a few 1-time bonuses which I don't factor in anyway.

Going by your SB rants, if you are outlevelling your gear before it Spiritbonds, then you are levelling too fast.

If you are trying to stay with the best gear, sometimes you are changing a piece every two levels, and I can see outpacing the SB there.

Do you gain anything by doing the crafting job quests? I'm debating on whether or not to do them on the crafting jobs I already have at level 50. I would do it for the ones I still need to level: GSM, CUL, ALC, LTW because I would be getting XP for them as I level the craft. BUt for ones that don't gain anything from additional XP, and the rewards I would get would be negligible, i'm not sure I would really gain anything from those job quests. What do you guys think?

You get an AF mainhand and a piece of the AF for free when you do the Lv50 quest. All the AF gear for crafting quests is crafted though so it's up to you as to if you feel that the storyline is worth it.

I loved the GSM storyline actually so to me it was worth it.

Yep. Plus a tonne of EXP and allagan pieces.

I'm actually torn now about the final quests - I want the AF, but I feel like I may be able to HQ them and so in light of that would rather the x3 Gold pieces (7500 gil).


On the other hand, it's free stuff to try and SB and possibly convert into T4 materia.


I'm telling you SB is retarded when it comes to tools and higher level gear though. Case in point, I was out mining for Electrum last night and with a Patriot's Collar & Choker + Meteor Survivor Ring equipped (+5 SB rate total) I was getting ONE PERCENT on my HQ Plumed Mythril Pickaxe per node. Didn't matter if I got HQ ore or not (which dramatically ranks up EXP) as long as I got all 4 swings to hit I was getting 1% SB per node. Considering how much bonus GP I had to sacrifice to get that (close to 100), I'm not impressed at all. I get that they wanted to slow down the rates, but if it's that slow even with +5 you don't think that's a bit of overkill?

You're using leves, from what I could determine, so that each leve turned in with HQ items (+addtl bonus from the actual process of creating that HQ) is shooting you through levels so that you need to change gears, am I correct?

1. I turn in 4 leves, with 4 HQ items, on just 5 attempts and gain a level. (Note: you just gained a WHOLE level on just 5 synthing attempts)
2. I do this for 3 or 4 at most, I'm upgrading my gear in every slot left and right, they're not SB'd yet.
3. I come here and bitch at SE for not getting SB's on just 5 attempts per level.

I'm not sure exactly how many attempts put you through each level, but I know for a fact that at low levels, turning in a level appropriate leve with an HQ item (or 2 or 3) makes that xp bar progress faster than talking to the NPC during beta to gain instant levels.

Again, I reiterate, SB is not solely based on experience, because if it did, the materia market would be shat on like the New York sewer system.

I never worry about trying to be first at anything in an MMO, because there's always that person that is far more dedicated than me and will beat me to it. You are the physical form of that person, Dux.

And personally, I think it's really just beyond stupid and counter-productive to effectively punish a player by encouraging just mass-items rather than giving extra SB for boosting quality. It is by far, disproportionately & exceedingly more expensive & difficult/time consuming to SB with DoH & DoL over DoW & DoM.

Maybe that's intentional, I don't know, but if SE would at least acknowledge that it is, then I'd feel a bit better about it as well, complaining about it would be pointless if it's working as intended. Right now it feels like a mistake to me.

What server are you on?

Currently on Phoenix. Playing a lot with my old college roommate and thats what server he was able to get into at launch. Probably gonna transfer whenever that goes live. Not totally sure to where just yet. Now that things have really gotten going, what (if any) server is most everyone from here on?

Also got my chocobo and finally got caught up on main storyline quests (lvl 28). I'm seriously enjoying the story so far. So many bad guys, lot of ways to tie it all together.

Creative methods to effectively guarantee HQ 100% of the time isn't exactly intended and I wouldn't be surprised if it got patched. Because it could be replicated by a third party program and then it would tank the economy to be hosed with so many "cheap" HQ items.

830 Tomestones of Philosophy, and 200 Tomestones of Mythology. I'm slowly putting together my Demagogue set from Amdapor Keep, iLevel 60, which would leave me some wiggle room with Darklight gear. I could go for jewelry first, or just replace the Demagogue set, or I could purchase the item for the relic weapon, even though I haven't found a group that could defeat Chimera. I think I've got the best weapon available, sub-Primals, which is HQ and iLevel 55. I got a look at the Summoner relic weapon, and it's a book with a reading light. GG. A reading light.
