I've had zero problems with the game since the maintenance on Sunday afternoon. The only issues I had yesterday were with the game client crashing.

I've been unable to log back into my legacy character because of the player cap. That's my biggest problem.

If you do get 1017'd out of a server, it turns out that 0 on the Num Pad is a nice spammable shortcut to get you back onto your last played character.

Well if you guys are really struggling, come over to Ixion and hang out with me. I got my LS set up over here, and the english player base is small, but it's still pretty good. I logged onto an NA/EU server first thing I saw. "This game is a WoW Clone." logged right the hell out. I'm glad the NA/EU players are assholes, let them keep their assholery on those servers while I hang out with some JP's like I did in 11. :D

It's not nice to make a sweeping generalisation like that. I've ran into plenty of JP players who were assholes.

That said the main issue with the JP servers are that I have to get up at 5-6am so there are actually players online. There's hardly anyone around to do things with during EU Prime time on Ixion, Valefor and Masamune which are the JP servers I poked my head into. Plus the latency is XI levels of crazy. I regularly get spikes of over 500ms and average around 300, with 260 being the lowest I've seen. It's just not possible to play with that sort of latency. Having half a second between pressing forward and actually moving makes any sort of encounter impossible without taking massive damage.

Contrast the EU/NA block where I average 50-70 MS despite the servers being in Monteral.

Yes but they're asshole you can't understand, that's the good part. But Ixion has been fine for me. I have no latency issues except during some fates when there's a cluster fuck of people on my screen and I can't see what is going on, other than that I'm fine. I avoided NA/EU due to the players being overconfident, snarky and just plain assholes.

It's one thing if you're doing it directly to someone, but it's another if you say something and they don't understand regardless. Passive aggressive plays a role here. All I am saying is that NA/EU players from what I've seen have no respect for how hard Yoshi-P has worked to give us the game that is FFXIV today. I'm not targeting you in general so don't take it personally. Those people know who they are and to those who are grateful then I hold you to the utmost respect that I hold Yoshi-P in. The man put his name out there to give this game a 2nd chance, usually when a game is scrapped it's scrapped for good. How many game producers do you know who put their name out their and picked up a dying game and said, "Hey let's fix this, we can make it work." I am blessed to play this game that Yoshi-P and his team worked hard on and I'll be damned if I'll have my experience ruined by people who don't appreciate it for what it is. Those are the people I don't want to be around, so I will alienate them as I see fit.

I know, sorry if I came across as taking things personally. What I'm trying to point out is that there will be people on both sides of the language barrier treating Yoshi-P like crap. The message above actually contains a fun little joke if you get someone to translate it .

Most of the people that are raging will eventually leave once the trial is up. Having the servers flooded with idiots is sadly one of the horrible things about online games at release and is one of the things that gamers need to change. The people making the servers toxic will leave once the subscription fees kick in. Actually engaging with the server Community of Balmung and being polite and courteous has already got me a couple of LS invites and a number of friends.

The sheer population of the EU/NA servers does also make your proportionately more likely to run into idiots. On the flip side it also means that there are lots of mature players out there too. There is also a reason why the concept of a "Vocal Minority" exists. It is usually the same handful of people who are contributing to making things unbearable, your average player likely couldn't care less about what the trolls are posting.. I've been trying to best to make things more friendly whenever I'm online and I'm trying to encourage others to do the same. Building a better community takes work.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the server issues will eventually go away, along with the idiots as soon as the free trial is over.

Yes but also keep in mind, there are people who will go out and buy the game and still have 30 days to be a pissant. It will be a recurring cycle.
