... it's definitely a typo on the website. Beta normally begins with or immediately following Producer Live, and that's next week Wednesday/Thursday, as I've already mentioned in another thread. The extra 1 placed next to the 7 is my best bet.

And Phase 4 is open beta - all progress made carries over into launch, so it's essentially early access.

August 17th seems like an odd date if you consider it's 10 days before release and you still have to factor in early access. So what--it's 7 days of open beta followed by a weekend of early access? I suppose that's possible but still...

I'm guessing the next live letter will be sometime next week (it's usually on a Friday) and beta will begin within a few days thereafter.

Dude, why are you guessing? They already said that the Live Letter is next week Thursday. You CANNOT have Open Beta on the 17th because the time table does not work that way. Look at your calendar and employ some common sense. The 17th is a Saturday US (Sunday in Japan) ... also note that early Access is a week and will start on the 20th. They already said that between Early Access and end of Open Beta, there's at minimum two days where servers are offline. Doing the math ... it makes zero fucking sense.

So three possibilities:

(1) They decide to screw over pre-order customers and reduce Early Access by mere days instead of a whole week.

They won't.

(2) They decide they will do away with Open Beta since they are confident that the game is ready for release.

Nope. There's still some issues with latency, player box in relation to boss/area of effect and many others.

(3) It's a typo or genuine error and people are reading into it too much.

A very real possibility.

Looking back at the schedule for testing, I think Yoshi-P is on target and on track. Phase 4 should open up this week.

Live from Reinheart's Stream:

17-19th for Open Beta (J9 was right...or rather, their source was right).
16th-19th for former beta testers. (Phase 3 and before).
24th is the start date for early access.

Level cap for Phase 4 is level 20, Arcanist available. Housing and bits of PVP available.

Already known, but data will transfer over from P4 > EA/launch assuming no ground-breaking bugs/exploits.

Aeni have you been playing XI or XIV before ? lol, not being snarky but in my 10 years dealing with Square-Enix's online ventures into gaming, they haven't made a single, NOT A SINGLE, time table they've ever stated that wasn't withing a 3-4 week forecast (i.e. if they say something is coming out in 2 weeks, it probably will, 2 months, not so much) lol

They are notorious for publishing year long projections, and then 2 months later being completely off schedule to the the point where people will quote time tables from 6 months prior, and be completely off base.
